-Tires: Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70/17 -Wheels: SCS Ray 10 Matte Gunmetal 17x8.5 -10mm offset -Lugs: SCS Extended Thread Spline Lugs 24pcs. M12x1.5 -Front Shocks: Bilstein B8 5100 Ride Height Adjustable Shocks set to 2" -Rear Suspension: WULF Suspension 1" rear lift kit blocks + U bolts
As I searched this board many times, I figured I would give back and present the specifics of my Taco's mini-build. The board was very helpful in choosing my setup; I'm very happy with the end result:

    2018 Tacoma DCSB TRD-Off Road Cement/Black Leather

    PARTS LIST
-Tires: Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70/17 C Load Rating
-Wheels: Stealth Custom Series (SCS) Ray 10 Matte Gunmetal 17x8.5 -10mm offset
-Lugs: SCS Extended Thread Spline Lugs 24pcs. M12x1.5
-Front Shocks: Bilstein B8 5100 Ride Height Adjustable Shocks set to 2"
-Rear Suspension: WULF Suspension 1" rear lift kit blocks + U bolts

    LABOR LIST
-Mount & Balance wheels and tires incl. 4 new OEM TPMS sensors
    -Install Bilstein 5100's
    -Perform laser vehicle alignment

    NOTES / THOUGHTS
-Since I just recently purchased an Ingersoll Rand air wrench and was dying to use it, I installed the rear lift blocks. Took a few hours but if I had a post lift and did it again it would take an hour and change.
-Living in Boston, not the suburbs, proved challenging to find a local shop to perform the labor. I called no less than 10 shops within an hour's distance. Many of them would either only do parts of the work, require me to purchase from them, or were booked a month out. I settled on East Side Motoring in Waltham, MA. They work on many high end vehicles like Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, etc but also do 4WD builds. They were very accommodating and booked a week out.
-The cost of new TPMS sensors just about outweighs the cost of 'reconditioning' the factory ones. Not to mention the should did not have to dismount the factory wheels and tires.
-Significant cutting (dremel) was involved to make sure the tires didn't rub. Note this had to be done in order for the truck to pretty much be drive, period. Don't fool yourself into thinking this setup is plug-and-play. I'll still need to chop more as it will run at full lock.
-This truck is a 3rd vehicle and while I don't drive it daily, I plan on doing some light off-roading on the Cape Cod beaches.
-Between the lift and larger wheel/tire size I added about 4+ inches to the height of the truck overall. Noticeably higher, like, much noticeably.
-Debating whether to add a TRD Pro grille...
-Best of all: This build was wife approved! She loves the setup and look and actually talked me out of the Matte Dark Bronze Ray 10's. Glad I went with the Matte Gunmetal.

Happy to answer any questions - thanks TW for all the help in choosing this setup!

    Clean and very tastefully done.

Someone needs to give you an award for not overdoing it.

Some days I feel like the mod level on the trucks around this forum rival the honda civic crowd from the late 90's to early 2000's.

Hey man nice truck. I have a 2018 trd or dc short bed. I just ordered an icon stage 3 suspension set up, and 16x8 ray 10s. I’m looking to run a bigger tire. The guy that helped me pick out all of the parts said I could run a 285/75r16 tire without rubbing. I’m skeptical of running a tire that size without doing a chop. What’s the biggest tire I could do without rubbing and having to do a body mount chop?

I'm actually about to do the same. I have everything on the truck already except for the 285s. I'm in between the ridge grapplers in C load or the falken wildpeak in C load. How are the ridge grapplers on the daily?
I've heard only good things about the falkens not so sure about the ridge grapplers. The grapplers are a few pounds lighter than the wildpeak I believe, so would like the lighter tire.

Good question. I’m not a pro but I did t lot of research. With the -10 offset on the Ray 10’s be mindful that they’ll stick out slightly. I was looking for a 275/70/17 but that was a tough size to find. My $.02 is that if you go with the 285 you’ll need to do some cutting but with that suspension setup probably not that much.

Dealer here in Boston. Friend works there so I kept the sticker on - but now that I see it in photos I think I’ll remove it

Ridge Grapplers are absolutely fine to daily. They’re remarkably quiet at 70mph. The only time you’ll hear them hum a little is when you’re slowing down around 15-20mph. Other than that I would absolutely buy them again. They also have two different sidewall tread designs with one side being slightly more aggressive which is what I went with. FWIW they’re made in the U.S. I got them from Discount Tire Direct for $205/ea plus tax and free super quick shipping. Also just received an $80 prepaid MasterCard as a promo!

Awesome thank you, I have 265 bfg ko2s and they were quite when I first got them but after about 40k miles they have gained in hwy hum. Once these ko2s are toast I think I'll go with the ridge grapplers. Also I might have missed, but did you do a CMC?

Are you running the stock UCA? I have the same parts as your built. Looks awesome, very clean.

I did not do a CMC...yet. Although I’ve only driven the truck about 100mi since I had the work done and need to figure out where it’s rubbing at full lock. Could be that I need to trim the inner fenders some more.

Another plug to the Ridge Grappler - real happy with them thus far and would buy again.

Stock UCA’s, yes. I feel the Ray 10 -10mm offset pushes the wheels and tires far enough away so it’s not an issue.

Beautiful build man! I'm currently doing my research to put a 2" front and rear lift to mine as well (OME kit) and have been wondering how it'll look, your photos really helped. I don't think I can afford the Ray 10s wheels, but I'm thinking of going for the Method NV 305s. and 275/70/17 and keeping stock UCAs for now.

I didn't think bigger tires would add that much lift. Are you just comparing it to the stock tires? I'm wondering how much lift my tire size will give to mine.

Edit: One more question, how much did it cost to get new TPMS sensors put in.

Thank you, much appreciated! FWIW the Ray 10’s are $245/wheel so only about $30-$35 more so if you can swing the difference i wouldn’t let that stop you. I’m real happy with them.

Regarding the lift - with the 2” lift upfront and the taller overall tire height (about 32.5” if I recall) I’ve gained 4+” over stock setup. I’m not near the stock tires and wheels now but I remember I can measure them and post. It’s most noticeable when getting in the truck and standing near the hood.

Regarding the TPMS I opted to have the shop order new ones from Toyota and they charged me $225 installed. For clarity, I kept the old wheel and tire setup with the factory TPMS intact.

You convinced me. I went on their website to order the wheels but looks like they don't have gunmetal in stock at the 17x8.5 configuration :( My second choice of matte black is also sold out.
