Thanks everyone for all the concern. I managed to make it home under my own steam. The alternator started working again by the time I got to the end of trail 10 and it worked fine all the way home. That's the good news.

The bad news is, even if the alternator still didn't work, it'd be the least of my problems. When I stopped to put air in my tires, I noticed my rear pinion seal is completely wasted and the rear drive flange was slinging gear oil everywhere. Still, that's not that bad to fix, but the trashed throw out bearing on my clutch is. I don't know if I should consider it a boon or not, but I was going to replace the trans crossmember soon, so I guess I'll be dropping the whole transmission and t-case when I do it to replace the throw out bearing. Hopefully I won't find anything else dicked up in there because the clutch isn't that old, although it probably has been abused quite a bit more than it would have been in a street driven vehicle.

Since I'm really hoping to get my regear done in January, I'm considering just borrowing @allenfab 's third member with the 3.90s and the open diff and slapping that in the rear end until the regear happens since they'll be replacing the pinion seal anyway when they build it.

Among other carnage, I also wasn't paying enough attention and got a little close to the end of a fallen tree on trail 15. Bent the lip of both my passenger side wheels a little and put a pretty damn deep gouge in the sidewall of my passenger front tire. It's a little scary actually, but it's a bias ply tire so as long as it's still holding air, I'm going to take my chances.

Also I wanted to give a nod and some gratitude to @Sixthelement for the assistance in twice yanking me out of that hole that did more damage to my truck in 5 minutes than was done in the previous three or four meets put together, and a big ol' :luvya: to Dom for talking shit and making me act all cocky and drive right back into the ruts I dug out knowing there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell of me making it through there after having washed it out. I just didn't care if I got pulled out, It's not something I'm ashamed of and it was a good test of my new front recovery points. (Oh, and this was the same mud hole that ate @michaelrussell 's engine that one time a few meets back, and ate Eve's alternator twice.) All I wanted to do was test my radiator armor, which actually appears to have been a complete success. Apparently that was the wrong hole to do it in though considering it seems to have a taste for Tacomas.

Oh and since nobody else seems to have done it yet...pics and vids go here...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2018-fall-camp-ride-picture-video-thread.571814/

And I really don't blame Dom. I'm old enough to ignore someone trying to goad me into doing something stupid. I just expected to get stuck have to get pulled out again, not end up with a laundry list of damage that I now have to fix.

Thanks, Tim. I can drop the transmission on my own, but I definitely will need some help to get it back in there. I'll definitely let you know when the time comes. Maybe make a mod day out of it and do Frank's Kings as well. I don't have and transmission jack and I'm not as strong as I used to be so there's no way I could do it by myself, unless someone had a tranny jack they'd loan me.

    Yup, I got one.

One thing to note @Taco No Baka , if I remember correctly, my old diff had a leaking pinion seal as well. But either way, it's yours to use if needed

Thanks, Todd. I might still go for it pinion seal or not because when I borrow it for the regear, I'd probably have to take care of it anyway, haha.

Anyway, with you, Tim, and me at your place, we could probably pop the tranny out, hopefully only replace the throw out bearing, pop it back in and install the new crossmember, and then swap the 3rd and probably still have time left over to install @Rattletrap66 's Kings. I'm probably not going to be in a real hurry though because as near as I can tell they haven't shipped the crossmember yet and it could take up to 14 days from when I pulled the trigger on it from me to actually get it and I'm perfectly fine waiting until it cools off a bit before doing any heavy labor like dropping a transmission.

And just think, if we swap the third over there I'll finally get to use that gear oil pressure filler I made you. :D I haven't had the cash to make one for myself yet, although I do already have the regulator which was the single most expensive part of it. All the brass fittings and stuff add up fast though, and I've had more important stuff to save everything I could for. :anonymous: I may end up making one for @Timbo's Customs as well given he's got those tons which probably take quite a bit of oil so it would probably be really convenient for him (and it would butter him up so I get a really good deal on his old axle housing and axles shafts). ;)
