I wonder how much that 10 speed tranny will shift. Folks freaking about the amount of shifting in the Taco 6...

With all the complaining about the lack of R&D on the 3.5's, I bet these things are going to be perfect off the assembly line and give owners nothing to complain about... all they will need is a short stack factory through a tool box thats short enough to leave one side of the window black.

All the hate aside, it will be something to keep an eye on once the bugs get worked out though and folks are looking for full size upgrade options. I had a pre-epa 3/4 ton diesel (duramax flavored) and really liked the torque/towing/mileage, only problem was the truck was falling apart around the powertrain.

I considered that but then it'd be so long, nobody would care.

Funny how someone on here told me diesels weren't going to meet 2019 emissions and would start fading out. And here is the best selling vehicle in the world getting one in 2018, haha.

Hopefully Scott Pruitt gets the EPA under control and diesels start coming out in everything.

That 3.5 reference was a turd gen reference... I'm one of the "few" happy owners of one though

Diesels running low sulphur fuels, with contemporary emission controls (like exhaust fluid injectors), can be cleaner than gasoline engines...

The new 10 speed (mated to the 3.5EB anyway) is fantastic. Shifts quickly and has no problem skipping gears if needed. Makes the shifting in my 2nd gen feel archaic, especially when under boost. Overall strength I am not sure of, but Ford built it alongside GM and an iteration of it will be in the new Camaro ZL1... I am sure it is pretty stout. Surprising for me, but I personally have no interest in the diesel.

Just read the article today and was about to post it, but I was sure someone already had. An accompanying article also said Ford was going to bring out both an F150 and Mustang hybrid. That's something I'll be interested in seeing.

    No manual = No buy.

Plus that red red grille looks like an ugly pair of lips. The chrome and last set of red mesh grills don't look bad though.

I was a ford man through and through, but that's the reason I got my taco.
    :burnrubber:

P.s. would love to see them squeeze a diesel in the taco with a 6+ manual and a 2 speed rear end.

Notice the F150's styling has actually started to follow the F250. That's pretty smart, kind of tests the waters on a lower volume truck first. Also, good or bad, it's gets people used to the styling so that when it goes to the 150, it's familiar.

Also, I agree that I'd love to see a diesel Taco (and I think we will, eventually). Unfortunately, I think manual transmissions are on their way out altogether short of sports cars, and even then, they’re dwindling. :/
