I ordered a TRD pro cavalry blue MT at the beginning of January and I barely got a VIN and delivery date 2 weeks ago. Truck is due beginning to mid April. So that would make it a total of 4 month wait +~-

Here's my experience: ordered/paid deposit 3/11/16. Notified of build slot at beginning of April. Built May 11th '16. Picked up the first week of June. DCSB 6MT TRD Sport in black with premium/tech, tow, and mudflaps.

The salesman put in two automatic requests at the same time, those were picked up immediately while mine sat in the queue for a few weeks before being assigned a build slot.
It's worth it to wait for exactly what you want.

Believe it or not, it's better to wait for what you want then to get frustrated combing the internet trying to find a dealer that has what you want. The search can get consuming and if you DO find it, you might get bent over a barrel in the deal.

If you never do find it you might compromise with something just to end the search.

Just enjoy the fact now that your truck is on the way.

Spent 8 weeks waiting for my QS Offroad longbed with no tech package.

5 months to get mine....4X4 Sport DCLB with JBL/tech package. I used the time to save up for mods, looking back it worked out better that way.

I ordered my 2018 DCLB OR in quicksand in late December. Just the technology package. It's supposed to be here on Saturday 3/10. It was a bit of a wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I put a deposit down on January 9th for a MGM DCSB 6MT with tech and premium. I still don't have a build date.

Put a deposit down in Nov for a Cement DBSB OR with premuim/tech. The dealer called Saturday and said they couldn't allocation one. They told me they can allocate a DBLB instead for me. I took that. They said the build date is 4/5. I'm in northern California .

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
I’m impatient too, I wanted to enjoy my ride in the few months leading up to it’s actual year but no one had what I wanted, try finding a cement/black leather TRD sport with both premium and tech package...in 4x2...the 4x2 part is the cherry on top that makes it a unicorn. So went with a Limited since that knocks out the two packages and makes it standard for just about the same price. I then dechromed and added body colored side view mirror covers and a black lower valence in front bumper and now have exactly what I want...minus the hood scoop, but I can always get that later. Even in limited what I wanted there was only 3 in the whole USA in January and one already had sold. All out of state needless to say my purchase was from a dealer out of state and still got it for $1,000 under cost with a tonneau cover, mud flaps, door sill protectors and floor matts. It was a $40k truck, got it for about $36k + $800 to ship, then $4k for taxes and registration here in CA. I’ve added about another $1k in accessories remote start, pop n lock tail gate, tube steps, led interior and exterior lamps, and $300 to sand blast and powder coat the oem Limited rims)

So new to this ordering a Toyota. Placed my order for a 2018 Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport pretty much fully loaded. Dealer did an allocation swap with another dealer and that vehicle was to start build like 3-4 days after I put my down payment down. I was given the VIN number the same day I put my down payment down. Dealer said about 6-8 weeks. Does that sound about right? This was on 2/15.

Yep sounds right. If I recall you get a temp VIN until the truck is actually built then you get the actual VIN for tracking and paperwork for the deal.

Maybe someone can chime in on the difference between the temp and actual VINs so you can tell what you have.

I want to order a 2018 TRD Off-Road MGM w/ Tech package and Manual Transmission. I’m planning to order around July (not in a rush). As of right now, if I build the truck on Toyota’s website, only MGM and cement are available in this configuration- perfect. My concern is, what are the chances that MGM is not available in July??

you're not gonna get an actual answer on here. but you'll get a ton of speculation.

you realize you don't "order" a truck, but sign up for allocations as they become available, right?

Right, sorry for using the wrong terminology. That’s why I’m thinking about this though, because I know the allocations change throughout the year, and I don’t want to screw myself.

i get it. speaking for myself it took me 5 1/2 months to get my allocation. if i made color a factor i would not have gotten it at all, for sure. but yeah i've seen some mentions around here of some who think they know when certain colors are produced in batches and show up for allocation later at a slightly more predictable time. but i'm not sure if that's for real or not... is anyone around here that informed of Toyota's ops?

For those of you that had build dates, did your's stay the same, or was it pushed up or pushed back? I currently have a build date of 4-13. Wondering if I can expect it a month or so after that? I was also given a vin and removed a ton of accessories, so I have fingers crossed they don't come on it.

My build date moved twice, 2 days backward, and 3 days later, it arrived at the Dealer about 3 weeks after it came out of the Texas Factory but it probably varies by what region you are in.

I can tell you San Antonio’s making cement color right now, because I got a call from Toyota my truck should be done by the end of the month and I asked for cement OR manual. Hope that helps.
