Wow, what a difference engine power equity makes. Last year Bottas would have carved his way to 4th or 5th. Good news for everyone between MB/Ferrari/RB and 'Alfa Romeo'. They all now have a valid shot at the points.

Rotten luck for Haas! But not really luck was it. I guess we'll find out the full story later, but at least one of those was clearly an unsafe release.

ESPN's use of the Sky feed was an unmitigated disaster. Pre race was a complete miss, in-race commercial breaks with commentators not in on the fact means we missed huge chunks of information, and NO post race AT ALL. Sigh. At least we had good commentary while the race was on.

Sky F1 is a pay channel in the UK , they have no commercial breaks

 

Also if there was an issue during the commercial, the US feed would recap what had happened.

 

Exactly. Say what you will about the previous US-only feed, at least they knew when the commercials were and filled us in after they ended. The Sky people are completely unaware of commercial breaks. Not their fault, just stupid for ESPN and painful for us in the states.

Oh and Will Buxton makes Martin Brundle look like a piker.

 

REALLY sucks for Haas. Was hoping they would get a good result to start the season.

 

The streaming wasnt any better if it makes you guys feel better. Though they might have included more post race and via editting. Like the podium was shown. Race finished and a bit of the cool down lap then commercial and it jumped to the podium pretty much.

Streaming wise they also only had 1 fing commercial so that played over and over. Sometimes twice in a row.

And their timing for commercials was just awkward. Announcers mid sentence and commercial break!




But, the race was actually decently fun to watch!

 

LOL, I musta missed the Seb haircut post. When he was interviewed my wife actually said, "That guy makes how much money? And thats the haircut he paid for!"

The key moment of the race but the US audience didn't see it. ESPN was advertising some shit nobody wants instead.

Edit - I think US audiences also missed the second Haas retirement too. At least it was a surprise to me to notice it was a DNF. Total shit.

 

I personally, didn't like the broadcast. The way the commercials banged in there with no thought, seemed to me, there was less talk about what was happening at the moment, just didn't suit me.

 

The Grosjean retirement happened during a commercial break here too but I could see it in the PIP

 

You think thats what happened? I mean we all know how Seb got out front because of the VSC, but do you MB was unaware of the pit stop delta under the VSC?

I think they had to know. Lewis was just covering Kimi, and like the vid suggested, no Valterri (shooting from the hip on the spelling there) to play wing man.
