It's going to be interesting to watch the Red Bull team switch to Honda next year and finally get rid of that Renault. It must be nice to have Torro Rosso as your pet test platform to develop Honda further. The Red Bull chassis with a competitive engine will be fun again.

Maybe another 2008 repeat where Toro Rosso beats out Red Bull. Lets hope Renault at least holds up for McLaren for Alonso's sake.

 

Neither works Renault or either McLaren have blown up yet so maybe Red Bull is running their power unit in some weird fashion

Just my speculation. Red Bull have had a rough relationship with Renault for a few years now.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Redbull didn't have a relationship with Renault at all after this season. Give Honda 1 season with Toro Rosso to feel them out and work with them to optimize the engine and then throw it in the frontline car next season. They have been looking for a break from Renault for a while anyway and going to Honda would almost make them a de-facto works team.

I completely agree. Once Renault get their power up, they'll throw everything they've got towards the factory team, leaving Red Bull out in the cold. Honda / Red Bull makes a ton of sense.

 

No, its just weird. Of all the team you would think Ferrari would be the ones that are like "Look, Seb, we have an image to up hold. Get a fucking hair cut or go drive for Sauber!"

 

it's also true that Renault want out of RB, but are required to supply if demanded (FIA). i personally doubt Honda can be ready before the regs change again.

it's possible and likely that RB are running their Renault PU's at specs not supported by Renault... which follows the fuel difference. Renault may be fed up with RB enough to let them do their own thing with regulating the settings. if RB want to push it to failure, and Renault want out of RB anyway, why would they argue with that? and RB have not a lot to lose and much to gain by pushing. for years Mateschitz is saying he's there to win, not just compete. so running for third is not a conservative approach they would prefer i think.
