2018 Formula 1 Season Paddock

The Boullier resignation plays into the rumours prior to the French GP of a mutiny within the McLaren factory .

I'm not sure if Boullier left on his own accord or was asked to tender his resignation by Zak Brown or McLaren ownership , and whether it or not it is an effort to retain Alonso for next season or not .

Alonso said himself that even if you are a full time Indy driver , you only get one chance per year to win the 500 so I actually find it more plausible that he sticks with F1 / Le Mans next season or just runs Le Mans . Either way he could still run at Indy .

 

So what is the conciseness here about ALO vs VET if it happens? Do you guys think ALO could out perform VET? Which driver would Ferrari pick to be the #1 driver? Where would ALO end up in the drivers points (guessing ofc)?

 

I doubt Ferrsri will have Alonso back

 

I am NOT a Ferrari fan, but I would love to see Alonso back in red.

The more I read about the situation at McLaren , the more I think Alonso will stay in F1 there .

Zak Brown confirmed that he talked to Alonso about shaking up the racing managment team prior to any announcement by Boullier about a 'resignation' and Andrea Stella has now been appointed technical director in charge of trackside operations . Stella was Alonso's longtime race engineer at Ferrari .

 

I was wondering if the shake ups had to do with Alonso. You can tell he isnt happy and in the past 2-3 races has even called out the car and team publicly over the radio. THis last race he did say something along the lines of "why are we even going to stay out here if i cant pass for 50 more laps" (or something along those lines...dont remember exact wording)

 

One can only hope! They must be apoplectic at the performance of the F1 team over the past few years.

 

Alonso to Haas has interesting possibilities. Daytona 500 anyone? Not to mention he'd be in an all-but Ferrari F1 car.

I had to go back 4 pages to find this quote, but a 10 sec penalty for Kimi?! WTF is happening. That is no different the the VET hit on Bot in France (?) and VET only got 5 sec.

Kimi is one of the few that stands up to his mistake. I think Leclerc will have his seat next year...

Did MB make the right call with keeping BOT and HAM both out on the med compound tire?

Personally leaving HAM on that tire was the right call. I'm not sure he could have made it past the Redbulls and then past Kimi, putting him in 3rd even on fresh rubber. BOT on the other hand should have gotten new rubber. That would have let him have a shot at making a run at Seb (who was fast as shit today) cause HAM would not have been able to run him down on those tyres (for the euro's) at that stage. Toto said post race that it was the right call because they were running 2nd and 6th (7th?) and they ended up finishing 2nd and 4th. Well yea, but you had a shot at 1st and 3rd or 2nd and 3rd, so I still don't understand MB can make those kinds of mistakes. This has been an issue with MB for YEARS now. It's gotta get fixed.

Overall was one of the best races thus far this year.

 

I don't think BOT has the moxi to pass VET even if he was on new rubber, so maybe a third place would of been doable. I do agree that MB sux at strategy, although they did get it right with HAM today

 

WOW what a finish.

 

Entertaining race but it definitely showed the 2 tiers of F1 , Hamilton moves from last to 6th in 15 laps and up to a podium position in 22 laps

 

Hamilton claims post race that Ferrari deliberatlely ran Raikkonen into him

 

That was a fun race to watch!
