Thanks, guys! I wasn't expecting to run into so much trouble just getting the grille and garnish.

Mine is just the regular OEM Pro grille. They aren't necessarily year specific because they all have the removable piece in the lower middle. You just need to buy the "radiator garnish" as they call it.

***Looking for opinions*** I've been watching this thread so intently over the last few weeks, and I can't decide which route to go when it comes to this grille. I'll be replacing my stock OR grille with the OEM TRD Pro grille, but I can't decide between a '17 or an '18? And maybe what I mean by that is...I don't know if I like that little radiator garnish thingy or not? Has anyone else even thought about the difference? I like that they try to camoflauge it, but it's still a smooth surface. Gladly taking y'all's 2¢. Thx

If you have a 17, you don’t need the shiny piece. It’s for 18’s that have safety sense, it helps the sensor behind it function.

As of now, you'll have to use the radiator garnish for the Pro grille if you want the adaptive radar cruise control to work correctly. I wasn't too thrilled about how it looked when I first saw it on a 2018 TRD Pro, but it doesn't bother me anymore. Even with the radiator garnish, it still looks better than the stock OR grille IMO and it's much better than having my dash light up with error messages.

Newbie here. Just picked up my Tacoma 2018 Sport tonight. Stoked.

Unfortunately, my Toyota dealer here in Hawaii refused to replace the stock Sport grill (honeycomb black) with the Pro grill. Also, they will not do the calibration for the sensors even if I replaced the grill/radiator garnish on my own.

Couple questions for those who have installed the Pro grill successfully on their 18s:
    1) Did you all re-calibrate or did the sensors seem to work without needing it?
    2) How hard is it to remove the original grill and install the new Pro grill? (sorry, newbie). Do I have to reattach any sensors or mechanical equipment to the grill?

What I meant was, I have an '18, but I'd rather buy the grill without the flat radiator garnish. I think I can still install the safety sensor in the grill without having to buy that flat piece.

Welcome to TW @poketako! That sucks that your dealership wont help you with switching your grille out. It's really not a big deal to do. To answer your questions:
    1) No, I didn't have to have my sensors re-calibrated. My radar sensor works fine and haven't had any issues at all.
    2) It's pretty simple to remove the factory grille and replace it with the Pro grille. You will have to disconnect the radar sensor and then remove it from the grille once you have the assembly out. I think it's only like 3, maybe 4, screws for the sensor. Just make sure you disconnect the wiring first. On the Pro grille, you'll need to remove the bottom middle piece and get an extra piece they call a "radiator garnish" (Part# 53141-35060) for the adaptive radar sensor. Here's a video on how to remove the grille.

It seems to be hit or miss on going without the shiny piece. I’ve read on here both, working with and without. You can always go without and see if it works to your satisfaction. If it doesn’t, just order the piece.

Yes you can but the garnish protects the sensor. Put a rock through the radar sensor and you will be taking out a loan to replace it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear you didn't need it re-calibrated.

The only thing I worry about is disconnecting the sensor and messing it up, but it sounds like it's not difficult? Just need to find the pieces now... (shipping to Hawaii is a b*tch)

Why do you think it's a pain in the neck to add a Pro grill to a '18?

The lift would affect your driveline warranty if the dealer didn't install it but that all depends on the dealer. As far as the grill your using a Pro grill and the Toyota garnish. I doubt the dealer would have an issue. Ive seen the oe pro grill for as low as $171. It's just not worth buying the Chinese one.
