You would be the first to try it , Some of the first and easiest way would be to go to the dealer and compare some of the body control module is from a 17 - 18, and wire harnesses - to See if the part numbers of the same

It would be cheaper to trade in your 17 and buy an 18. Modules in modern vehicle "talk" to each other and share data. It's not as simple as to add a millimeter radar sensor and get it to work with the rest of the modules. Even the instrument panel and steering wheel is different on the '18.

I’m def going to order the garnish eventually, but I have driven 5,000 miles with no issues. I must be one of the plexi glass breakthroughs. Lane departure works great just like before new grill, same with the automated cruise and the break alert. Although regardless this is subjective and going with the actual piece is prob better. I think tss is dumb to be honest.

Not asking to install the TSS, just wondering if Toyota was pre-thinking.
How different? From the one I have seen is the same looking.

Yea I owned a 2016 and now own 2018 and haven’t noticed a difference. But knowing me it’s probably ignorance. I mean there is the tss crap on the steering wheel but that’s really it.

"but is it possible to install the radar only on a '17? without the windshield camera? Wonder if the '17 has the harness ready built or easy to adapt."

    That's how I understood it.

The development of the TSS has been planned for Toyota vehicle for a number of years. When they designed Pro Grill they must have know at some point TSS would be installed.

Just got the parts in and installed mine. I didn't order the cable, but it would be good to order it anyways since it is longer and will have cleaner routing. The regular cable is too short. PN is 88214-04020 I believe.

It is the wiring harness to the TSS sensor. Check out the exploded view of the grill assembly on page 6!

Would you care to show us yours? Wondering if cable is necessary or can live without it.

Also for Canadians, since we cannot order from links provided here; my dealer just quoted me $56 Canadian for the part. Delivery next day.

You might want to call them back. I just checked and the part doesn't have an eta. I place the order but it won't be in for a while.
