    I don’t think it’s just economy cars.
Look beyond the bling and look how poor quality even expensive cars are. Domestic trucks for example. You can spend about $100k on a truck and it’s interior quality is worse than a $20k vw sold in Europe.

Glass headlights? What are those? Haha. I've driven Prados in Costa Rica. I liked them. But the biggest surprise was the Nissan extera diesel 6 speed. That thing would blast up any mountain no problem. Night and day difference to the Prados

I've done a mod or two
It's kinda weird but, the base model trucks are a status symbol in the minor outlying islands. More basic it is the better, the culture is geared away from excess. Many of them could afford it but chose to live on a really thin budget.

Most people don’t actually like the hilux. They just think they WOULD. It’s called a hypelux after all.

I've gotten to drive one of the new SOCOM hilux rigs before, and it was pretty cool, but I was more interested in the crew-served fun mounted in the bed.

I like my Tacoma plenty, but would probably steal the diesel if it were an option.

Ford base model center stack is absolutely atrocious. I can't think of a worse entertainment setup in a new vehicle

Well clearly you didn’t as I never said replace the plastic with wood or whatever other bs you were talking about.
I just said domestic cars are cheap crap for the most part. And cheap nasty plastics are a symptom of this.

Lack of 3rd gen content in this thread is phenomenal. Reported.

I like many people on here like to use only OEM parts on their Tacomas. I wanted to know if anyone knew how to get overseas parts so I could purchase those wheels. I also figured other Tacoma owners would be interested in this.

Also I’m sure other parts could fit on our Tacoma’s like final drive gears, suspension, brakes etc since the two trucks are very similar. Most 3rd Gen Tacoma owners don’t even know of this truck or this possibility.

Seems tenuously related but related nonetheless.

not quick off the line but torque on the hills is pretty good. Putting bigger tires and all ithe heavy accessories on does drop its performance.
they are popular here because they are really reliable.
