My 2017 TRD off road 6mt absolutely had hill assist. I hated it, but it definitely had it.

Haha i legit throw in reverse at a hill by my parents house because a stoplight sits on a 15* grade and the white light keeps the slush boxes at least a foot away (city).

Not going to lie. I've cheated that one with the hand brake a few times this winter.

My 17 Sport MT has the hill assist and I really like it, surprises me so many don't. Clutch out and go. No roll back on a hill, especially on a steeper grade when somebody is behind.

That push button start would be really nice instead of fumbling with a key.

Same here. My '17 sr 4cyl w/ the 5 speed may be a different animal altogether than the 6 spd, but its got the hill brake feature. Strangely enoughI dont find it to be intrusive or a hidrance. I drove the truck for 3 months before i even realized it had it. Probly saved my skin in traffic a few times unknowingly. I def wanted a standard and nobody had one to learn on, so i bought my own.

In any case, the best advice I got for hill starts is to just ignore the hill.
The hill hold is pretty nice on the boat ramp, tho :bikewheelie:

The push button will not be easily switched from keyed ignition. When I was buying my Tacoma, I tried to get the keyed ignition as I didn’t want the push button in my OR. The dealer pulled up the schematic and the wire harness is very extensive, running all through the engine. It would have to be swapped out, the dealer told me it would cost $1100. Not to mention all the electrical gremlins you’d be chasing forever.

SR and Sport Manuals are the ones with it, so your truck is normal.

I have what I call hill start assist but I don't know if Toyota calls it that for the manual.

Which one solves the problem.... complaining about it or doing something about it including trading it?
I traded my problem. Life is too short to complain.

Can anyone confirm that a 2018 MT (TRD OR) does not come with JBL and other goodies if the Premium Package is ordered.

    None Toyota made it perfectly
My 2018 TRD OR MT has push button start I was told by the stealership you have to get Technology package on the MT to get push button start. As far as hill start assist I've never had it on any of the other MT Tacomas I've owned so don't miss it can't miss what you don't have. If you know how to drive a stick I'm not sure why you'd need it but that's just my 2 cents

If ya don't want to roll back on a hill, use the e-brake trick.

...or burn rubber. That's even better
