I can agree JR was not a silver spoon kid, and once I learned of that, and he was a class act, I became a fan. Not a SR fan, but respected him, as others had to do as well, if not he would dump them.

I became a Kyle fan, watching him in the trucks, dam the boy drives the wheels off shit. No fear.

Have you heard the tape of Ward doing a commercial on John Boy & Billy for Cat skid-steer loaders? You'll fall out of your chair.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
LOL, I actually got to know Ward when he drove the 31 Hardees car for AG Dillard. They had a shop about three blocks from where I worked and I would stop by and help them unload the destroyed cars when they would get back to the shop on Monday's or Tuesdays depending on the track. They called it a shop but it was more like a old house with a three bay garage and a 10'X10' merchandise room. Ward is a really good person. He had a nice SS Camaro as his daily driver and he gave me a few rides in it. It was a little nicer than stock! I could not say he is a friend but he was always super nice to me and I loved listing to him tell a story!

I was never a Sr. fan. As a kid I'd take a big poster board with the #3 and a red circle and slash across it. I DESPISED Earnhardt Sr. Dale Jr. comes along and man is he a breath of fresh air to the sport. He's down home, reminds me of my high school buddies and seems like a normal kid. I was always secretly a Jr. fan because I did not want to be associated one bit with the carryover Earnhardt Sr. fans and the new bandwagon fans of the boom.

I only became a fan of Jr. when he was racing in the Busch Series. I remember a few races that I'd watched as a kid with Sr. winning here and there but I never jumped on his band wagon per se. I had a lot in common with Jr. and Kenseth when we all were in our younger years. Matt & I are the same age.

The thing that turned me onto him was a ridiculous race at AMS. He was running up front most of the day but got shuffled back on pit cycle. I watched him drive his heart at in the closing laps. I'd never seen anyone rim ride like that and it was incredible to visually see the gap closing each time he launched down out of turn two. Everyone was cheering because he was passing car after car. There was a late race caution and suddenly he was in third. They went green and dove into turn one and his left rear wheel sheared off the car. He nailed the wall and Jimmie won the race. It was an unfortunate ending but I was sold on his driving abilities after watching the way he was closing out that race. I went straight to the bootleg merch trailers across the road and bought a 1:24 Jr. die cast.

One guy posted during the race that Harvick's rear window looked odd, then shortly after the end of the race someone posted a pic of Harvick's rear window and it blew up. People who were there all weekend said each time Harvick got up to speed the rear window caved. At stand-still (during inspection), it fit the lasers and templates but at speed the car warped to give more down force on the rear deck-lid. It's freaking genius and I don't think NASCAR would've done anything public but Reddit forced their hand. I love this modern accountability but I bet NASCAR hates it.

Yep, I remember that race well. He was just close enough to the wall that it reached out and grabbed him. I LOVE watching high line racers. It would be a total blast to go those speeds they run up there.

Ok, I just googled it, another pointless website in which tattle tales become popular for their "who gives a rat's ass" opinions. Like we needed another one of those. :crapstorm:

Richard Petty always said he liked the high line because he didn't have to travel so far to hit the wall when he blew a tire.

I started lurking on @thewarriordinghy 's suggestion. I finally joined last month and started contributing this month. IMO, it's the best place to talk about racing on the internet. It has the least amount of dinguses compared to facebook, nascar.com, and other online forums. SUre, there are still dinguses, but they get put in their place pretty quickly. Several drivers and crew members are active there and interact with fans online and at the track. I appreciate the content of the quality threads. Some folks post their favorite die-cast, others post pics of themselves in race cars as kids. Basically; and most importantly, it's the place for where young(er) NASCAR fans communicate and relate their experiences.

Going back to this ridiculous subject. How can any other entity "make" NASCAR do anything? They aren't the sanctioning body!
