A few additions to make me feel cool.
Everyone wants to think "they are responsible" SHR pushed the limits too far but really had nothing to lose. They were probably trying to see what they could get away with and that is why they used a car that is already pretty much locked into the chase. I do think they did not intend for it to be so noticeable. I doubt NASCAR cares what is being said on some forum or whatever it is. Truth is having one car break out and beat the hell out of everyone two weeks in a row is bad for business.

I agree they all cheat, even Petty said one time that it was just about not getting caught. Ray Evernham was the king of that stuff. He'd put a towel on the nose of Kasey Kahne's car to keep Nascar's eyes from looking elsewhere. It could've just been mind games but it worked and a few times they wanted to inspect the car again. LOL Ahh, those were good times!

Hell, to only get a $50k fine is just good business when the payout is so much more for 1st place.

It's direct accountability with actual NASCAR fans in that cherished 18-35 bracket. NASCAR basically has to cower to them or roll over and die. They did it once with Chase Elliott last year and that set a precedent. Now they *have* to respond when Redditors call them out. Matt DiBennedetto, Bubba Wallace, Brad Keselowski, and several Xfinity and truck series drivers interact with the fans there and it is direct interaction which is a boon for newer fans.

I get that, but I think it opens a can of worms. Thank God I'm old and stuck in my ways.

Yeah, I WISH a driver would be like "hell yeah, we figured out something in the grey area. It's not illegal during inspection, so it should be acceptable." I love what they did. That was Smokey Yunich level stuff right there. Old School NASCAR.

Y'all, I had to google "Ism Speedway." I thought the NASCAR.com schedule had a glitch or something.

Alright, I've been on the fence about the guy because he's so milquetoast, with the only positive being that he doesn't tear up equipment, but FINE. I'll go ahead and be a Paul Menard fan. It was this snippet that finally sold me on him:

3 way battles for the lead? Short tracks are the best

That dude is actually funny if you listen to him a lot. But yea, his feelings there are pretty much every drivers feelings about the 3 on the track.

Season opener for Indycar in St. Pete today. New cars look pretty great. Twitchy as all get out and pretty racy. Wild finish:
