2018 NASCAR Thread

I think AMS needs to stay in this layout. It is slighted bigger than 1.5 miles as it is 1.54 I believe, and the extra .04 gives it just enough. But when I could buy a ZL1 camaro at a dealer and get more excited to see it accelerate there is a problem

 

Supposed to be cold here this weekend so I'll probably watch.

 

Like every other playoff race this season, I missed most of it. Got dang Ford, SHR and Harvick are on their A game right now. Did Ford wrap up the Manufacturer's Championship tonight? How old were the tires on that final restart? Blaney got an awful start but Larson gave him a great punt into T1. Blaney didn't have a lick of steam for Harvick. SHR is freaking ON IT with their setups this year. T1 kind of sucks since the repave and all but geez, that was a lousy turn for Blaney.

 

It seemed like the cars wouldn't really suck up once a driver got to the car in front. Not a lot of passing going on like the TMS of old.

Harvick docked 40 driver points, loses Championship lock. Has to race his way in. SHR docked 40 owner points for altering the spoiler. Crew and car chiefs suspended for rest of the season, fined $75,000. SHR will not appeal.

Blaney docked 20 driver points, Penske docked 20 owner points. Crew chief fined $50,000. Car chief suspended for rest of season.

Jones docked 20 driver points, JGR docked 20 owner points. Crew chief fined $50,000. Car chief suspended for rest of season.

 

Dang! 3 of the fastest cars. Go figger!

 

Conveniently for Harvick, they're going to the track he's practically owned his entire career this weekend.

 

We'll see how that goes.

 

I'm calling an upset this weekend.... 41 advances over the 4. (Showing how BS the playoff are)

 

I'm thinking that a little penalty isn't going to slow the 4 down. No penalties for the other 1400 races he's won in Phoenix.

 

Harvick will be on a mission this weekend but with Tony Gibson on the box it will be a tough road. Could not pick a better track for a clutch win but maybe it is karma for that shit he pulled a Dega a few years back!

I think Kyle has been riding around not making waves the last few weeks. Letting his regular season points work so he can return to form in Homestead. No way the 18 has been performing poorly for him and KB is not whining about it. I think the 18 has the best shot at the title this year.

 

This format is so unpredicable, it's hard to choose. There's always a Joey lurking around waiting to take folks out too. LOL

 

I wish they would take it back to how it used to be. F the stages, collect points for the entire season and may the best team win. If that means someone wraps the championship up with three races to go so be it. Screw this crash clock crap and bonus points and all of it. Hell take the speed limit off of pit road unless they are under caution while you are at it.

The thought process to it all coming down to one track that happens to be one of the most boring on the circuit is just beyond stupid. At least needs to be an average across 10 races and several different types of tracks.

 

You need pit road speed limits so crewmen don't die... But I am 100% for a full season format. Look at the Xfinity series... Christopher bell (6 wins) may not even have a shot! What Bullshit.

 

I am completely aware of why there is a pit road speed i simply don't care and remember when there was not.

 

Men were actually tough back then.

 

they changed the rules all the time because the 48 team was so dominant all the time.

 

Wow, OP! No comment on your driver winning? Are you ok?

 

LOL, congrats OP. Now let's hope those Toyota's can hold off the Ford camp. As for my driver and the Chevy camp, I guess we shall try again next year.

 

Late last year I was convinced Kyle Larson would contend weekly in 2018. Sadly, this did not come to fruition. As we finish up the '18 season, I'm thinking the same for Chase Elliott and Erik Jones in 2019. I hope I'm not wrong.
