I plan to sleep in the back of my truck most of the time. I'll use my popup tent when it's appropriate.

Might try one of these this year so I can gain some leg room.

Those bed tents suck. I tried them out for a season. Too much work and they don’t seal out the elements.

I'm not too worried about the elements. My cap takes care of that for the most part. More worried about keeping mosquitos out. I really only need something to seal up the end when the tailgate is down. That was the closest off-the-shelf thing I could find.

#wifey and I still absolutely love our RTT, and have zero intentions of going a different route. The ease of removing it (with our current setup) makes it a much better solution than what I imagine we'd go through if we followed the next fad. If we ever decide to switch things up, it'd probably be an upgrade to a different/better tent than our entry-level, inexpensive Smittybilt that we have now. That said, I do still enjoy looking at the new hotness; it's just not for me.

Good for you. I know lots of people have them and love them.

True, I don't have one..however, that doesn't invalidate my point.

While I may not own one I have eyes and ears and have the ability to observe and make up my own mind that somthing isn't worth the time money etc.

Keep in mind this is just my opinion and your's is your opinion.

Non of the above fits my wants/needs on the taco.
If i was younger the rtt would be nice, but current build is about light weight go fast. Sleep in hotel or ground tent if need be in the woods . Rtts are nice but i wouldnt want to leave it on my truck all the time. And no garage space leaves that out the question. Maybe someday i will get a tree fort.

Sorry Sam...I came off as triggered. Maybe I was a little which isn't necessary.

Let me elaborate on my point...RTT's are super awesome. However, for the same reasons Jason stated, they're not for me. The hassle factor for me isn't so much in camp..that part is great. I understand that bit. You just fold it up and go, right? You're off the ground and warm. What's not to love?

The hassle for me is what the heck do I do with it from day to day. While my truck isn't my daily driver I don't really want a tent on it full time. I have no where to put it other than my roof.

Just to prove that I wasn't the only one that needed Jason's traction boards that day. Sorry Dave!:bananadead:
