Chains are for ice. You dont need for snow wheeling. But ice can be scary shit. Ask David, we hit some ice at 25mph and he almost kissed a tree.

Thats what made me want them. They dont use them the whole time. But when they are stuck it helps with recovery.

Exactly, wheres the Having Fun in all of it!

Chains mainly help grabbing traction for the ice hiding below the snow.
It helps a little with snow, but if its deep and you stop, your just high centered at that point in most cases.

Chains would have helped me across that bridge as not forcing me into the rut lines already made, #bouncingofftheguardrail.

Yeah, that was a couple yrs back. Was fun, and there's videos of that somewhere in the archives, along with my kids being towed also.

Some people just can't drive in snow. Last time when I went snow wheeling this guy in 4runner couldn't follow straight line where snow was already broken in and kept swerving left and right and getting stuck. After 3rd or 4th time I pulled him out, I told him to park his truck on a side and hop in with me because I was getting sick and tired of pulling him out every 5 mins lol.

Hey, I resent that(4nr) part, maybe, LOL. I was doing the same on this last trip making my own new lines. I think I got stuck once, but backed out of it.

Snow and mud is definitely a different breed to drive in for some, never know what might happen.
