The beauty of it all is, you have the choice of doing it all yourself with the aids turned off, or letting the truck assist, depending on your skill level, mood, etc. If you want to feel disconnected, get out and hike or bike! Talk about being connected to nature without 5k lbs of steel sitting under you :D

Well, since you can time travel, you can always go back and get one if you want.

Apologies in advance to all who are going to be offended....

    Abso fucking lutely agree 100%.

The pickup truck used to be the best kept secret. Relatively one of the least expensive vehicles that would run well and always have a resale market.

Now they have morphed into "lifestyle vehicles", with all the associated gadgetry.

But hey, that's progress for you.

And for the record, I really like my third gen.

Since there are no longer new pickups with no AC, no power steering and hand crank windows, I will just enjoy all the niceties, since I have paid (alot) for them, lol

And also, for the record, I do appreciate the high strength steel, airbags and whatever else was added to keep people safe, since there is value in that is "priceless" in an accident.

    OK, Carry on...

You can sell that thinking to 95% of the customers, as Toyota has figured out, but I'm too stubborn lol. :p

Price increases outpaced the rate of inflation by 300 % .

Shareholder value at all cost continues to fleece buyers by lowering quality and raising prices at the same time. Once they pulled off making plastic beds in Tijuana that opened the flood gates.

Ya...think I am over it. (and over Toyota) If you really want basic utility... buy a van....pickups are kind of a joke for what little you can haul in them.

Went it looked at Ford Transits yesterday...have come to terms that I really don't need 4WD, but really need a gear hauler to trail heads instead. Plus it doubles as a camper super easy, all you need is a cot...done. All that day dreaming about overpriced for what you get FWC's...yep done.

No worry about payload either, even the T150 starts at around 3000 lbs. Which I would be extremely hard pressed to come even near that.

A majority of the V6 models were equipped with the Tow Package already. Most people buy a truck to do what with... Tow! So why not have the option then as standard now?

My neighbor just paid $48,000 for an Odyssey van. $8,000 more than my17 PRO

I say, if you want utility, buy a $26,000 4 door Tacoma.

If you add all available dealer accessories, you can get the price up to $56,000, lol. To be fair, the Odyssey is a sweet minivan, but yeah, that's still a lot.

The more expensive the minivan, the uglier the driver.
