Dealership adjusted the bumper covers on mine first, then aligned the bed. I had mine fixed the first week I did it. My dealership is great, dropped it off, said leave it half a day. I got home and they called, said it was ready. They are doing this fix to all the Tacomas on the lot and anyone that needs it. They never knew about the issue.

Correct.. you can take the entire rear bumper off the truck and the hitch will still be in place attached to the frame.

Your bumper looks like it got bumped and now out of alignment. G/L with the dealershit.

They should fix but I would take a close look at bumper for any possible scuffs where some a-hole bumped into you.

Man I did but I didn't see it until I got home. And I just happened to catch the broke radiator mount while putting in trd pro grill. I will be on the phone monday and put the "bumper to bumper" warranty to test.

I will admit that I totally missed the bumper gap while inspecting mine at the dealer. Mine is off a little bit. This has been brought up in other threads and it seems to be very common. Most people don’t notice or don’t care.

I’m going to take a look at aligning mine if and when I decide to change to SR black bumper caps. I believe to do this right you need to remove the caps.

Might want to try and align the box first as that may be easier. I’m just going to live with mine the way it is.

It's easy to miss . I use a dealer 4 hrs away cause they "usually" hook me up. So a 4 hr drive and sitting in finance forever cause they wanted to get stupid (10% interest.. they're out of they're minds) I was just ready to go lol

Mine was like this when I got it in 2017 so it may be a lazy worker at the factory.

You don’t need to remove the bumper caps. Just the black plastic step piece. Still might be worth waiting and doing the caps and bumper alignment at the same time, but you don’t need to remove the caps to align your bumper.

Thank you for the info. I was under the impression both had to be removed to access the mounting bolts.

How is the gap between the bed and the cab?

If it's wonky there too, it's at minimum a bed alignment issue, but once adjusted, the bumper may still need an adjustment. Or not.

If only at the rear, it's a bumper issue.

If your dealer denies it for some silly reason (most don't) or you don't want to spend the time (like you live an hour away from the closest dealer) the bed is easy to align by loosening the 6 bolts in the floor. Couple of people makes it easier.

Same with bumper, but not 'quite' as easy because it's harder to see when under truck. Although I installed my hitch and re-squared everything by myself lying on the driveway.

Nope. I did not remove the caps when I did mine. Didn’t even consider it as it wasn’t needed. Full access once that plastic step is removed. There isn’t a lot of room to adjust so I ended up moving both sides a little bit (in opposite directions) to get the sides to match. I remember loosening the center portion also to get a little more play. I think the most challenging part was removing the license plate lights. Good luck.
