    Hi!
First post here and first time Tacoma owner.
I have noticed that my truck appears to be not level looking at it from behind.
I drove it in the garage (level surface) and started measuring a little...

    Aft looking forward:
Left to Right difference on the rear fenders is about 1/2" and in the front the difference minimally less.

I find it hard to believe this is considered normal on a new truck with 950miles on it.
Talked to the dealership and they basically blew me off by saying that this cant be. I tried showing them the problem and they bluntly said that their shop floor is not level...

Any thoughts on this? Is this normal? Should I be worried?
I have a few more issues with the truck and scheduled a warranty service appointment for next week.

That sounds like it is a known issue.
Care to give me some insight on it. Any fixes?

    sorry... just searched "taco lean"...
does adding a space (1/4") on the front left strut fix the issue?

It is normal. You have your fuel tank and battery on that side. It’s known as Taco Lean like djsam said.

If it really bothers you a spacer can be added to the leaf pack.

Cause is due to the battery, driver and gas tank all being on the same side. Fix is to install a shim in the rear or 1/4 spacer up fron depending on where the lean is most prevalent.

Nothing's perfect. I don't know if mine has this symptom or not, but either way, doesn't bother me.

I found a better fix, just install a second battery on the other side, no more lean lol

did you put a level on it? Measurements dont mean anything.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the fuel tank, battery or driver seat. Because even when you beef up the suspension and even if those things are removed from the truck the "lean still exists." People have been spreading that bullshit for years.

I’m new to the taco. But was a long time FJ owner before that and they have the same issue. Gas tank and battery on the same side. Typically level with stock suspension but develop the lean once it’s replaced or swapped out.

I just find it odd. I have the stock suspension, brand new car and Toyota didn't notice this before?
That's somewhat hard to believe. They designed the truck and knew about the placement and weight distribution.
I decided to return to the dealerships and confront them with it. There has to be a way to get this resolved. E.G. the inserting a shim.
Since I don't want to touch it, I want Toyota to resolve it for me. Guess I am going to be a difficult customer...

There is more to the truck right now:
    • A rough transition from R to D.
    • Roof Rack covers keep peeling and flapping in the wind
    • Howling noise from underneath during drive at 45mph.
    • Navigation System cant find streets that have been there for years. It seems like the SD Card they gave me (initial one was stolen) has an old database.
    • Front Bumper at the license plate is not inserted correctly and keeps popping out.
The Tacoma is not a bad truck. Not at all, but the final fit and finish does seem to be lacking.

Not just 3rd gens, taco lean has been around since the beginning.... I have my coilovers adjusted to level the front out on my 1st gen but it's still got the gangster lean in the rear.

I wonder if pre taco pickups had it too? I drove one daily for years at one of my old jobs but never payed attention or cared at the time.
