So I know this is talked about a bunch but wanted to hear everyone's thoughts, but, I'm sure it's a no brainer.

Settled for a 18 sport. Liked the matching flairs, dont do too much crazy off roading, just some, so figured standard 4wheel drive was enough.

They didnt have the off road so got the sport, at least thinking it had the tech package. Had been so many places didnt double check. (Whoops)

Got home saw it didnt. Dealer said they would give me the Offroad plus tech package and the numbers did not change. Would come in next week and giving a loaner. Actually went down a dollar.

    Obvious move to switch right?

I’d be a no brained for me. But depends how much you value the matching flares, scoop, suspension, etc.

Can’t the dealer just find you a Sport w Tech?

I think they can. Scoop is nice. Gives in an aggressive look, especially once I start adding to it. But I can live without. Figured the off road had more bang for the buck (even though I may never use crawl etc? The sport rides very tight for stock. Even though I'll switch everything, but not want to as quickly bc the off road seems to ride better. The flares I've been trying to convince myself on, but I guess that's not a big deal either lol. I'm going with MGM. So black should look good with black accessories.

Let me get this right, you’re not losing any money on switching from the Sport to the Off Road? If so, “Just Do It”!

I switched from a Sport to an Off Road, not by choice, but more so happenstance. The Sport is a little bit tighter than the Off Road, but not by as much as has been mentioned here on this forum. Perhaps I’m more numb than many others here. I don’t miss the Sport hood scoop at all! It’s a joy to finally look out across the hood, free and clear. The Off Road floor mats have an Off Road logo. The Off Road black fender flares have grown on me. I still go back and forth on whether I like the Off Road wheels. I can’t dismiss the rear locker and Bilstein shocks with the Off Road. After the owning both, I finally see the added value in the Off Road that I somehow negated before.

If I was an off-roading guy, yeah would have insisted on the OR. But for city/highway and maybe light off-roading whenever I upgrade my tires? Hell SR5 4x4 would be fine for that. Sport definitely looks better that SR5, OR and Limited aesthetically. With the pro grille it's not even close.

From my understanding though serious off-roaders would need to heavily mod either the Sport or OR to get it to where it needs to be so it's really all about that factory locker and crawl control.

Yep, and its adding the tech package.

That helps. Ya trying to convince myself on the flairs. But figured like you said, the added value is there by switching.

True. I figured the rear locker and crawl was the biggest added value, even if you never need it. Travel to the mountains some, so maybe would be cool to use it, but may never need it. Most off roading for me is light trails, hunting etc

That's exactly it. Most people with the OR tend to say they have never used the locker (makes sense considering 3rd gens are probably still too new for people to risk getting them in really hairy spots). Crawl control to me seems like it'd be a neat party trick but how often are you going to need that? If you're getting stuck in sand yeah it'd be awesome but here in Canada, lol trust me sand will not be an issue.

You’re going to get a lot of bang for $1 by switching.

    For sure!

Only thing left bothering me are the flairs :( lol. But I guess on MGM, black goes well with other black parts.

Agreed. They blend well with gray. You can also switch them out for color matched flares.

The black contrast against MGM works very well.

I've had a hard time finding them. Do you normally have to buy from someone? Or where can you find OEM flairs that match and arent used?

I figured they could be ordered pre-painted through a dealer.
