On my right rear strut housing connecting to my frame, there is multiple tiny rust spots. I'm not sure what to do!

I'm a first time truck owner, so I'm still learning a lot. I'm open to anyone's opinions. Help

Just some surface rust, nothing to be bothered about. Your driveshaft will be coated in surface rust shortly too, once again. That's normal.

If you're worried, I'd get some POR15 and shoot some on it after you cleaned that area a little.

If it really concerns you, get some sandpaper or wire brush, clean it up really good, then coat with rust reformer. You can then apply some rustoleum paint or por15 to paint it up nice. Bet if you crawl under your truck, you will see little spots like that in several places. Depending on where you’re at and the level of salt you’re exposed to, you can then fluid film the underside of your truck to help prevent rust.

I thought the same when I got my Taco, but that's not rust. That is the color of the weld material. For whatever reason, the frame coating doesn't stick to it. You can see this on a lot of the frame welds.

If you are worried about rust, check out that A/C drain fix sticky.

Thanks for the information people. I live in Vermont so I'm the winter I'm going to need to get the underneath coated, because of all the salt on the road :/

Tar-like undercoatings can trap water and make things worse. A lot of folks here who live in the snow belt swear by Fluid Film. You might want to check that out?

What in the world are you guys on about? This is rust. It's not a big deal while it's this small but let's call spade a spade here.

When they weld the frame, it leaves little spots of silica occasionally. They don't remove them prior to painting the frame, then they pop off later leaving exposed steel.
Just wire brush and hit with some rustoleum spray paint.

The welds aren't gold. The gold colored stuff is silica puddles left from the welding process. If it pops off, you will be left with a bare metal spot that will eventually rust.
