Hey guys. I installed a new linkswell touchscreen and it required me to remove my push button start and my 4wd knob. I cannot get the plug back in. Does anyone happen to have a picture of the plug so I can confirm I am trying to put the correct plug back in? Pins are not bent and I can’t see any obstructions in the holes.

Should be a 5 pin connector.
At least have Gray, Purple and White/Black wires. (Maybe 2 more. I didn't go through all the diagrams)

It is possible that the other two pins are used for illumination, colors would be Green and Beige, or so I think.

Illumination is rarely shown in the "systems" schematics.

Thank you guys. If I need to change this connector where do I find it to buy and where is the J6 junction connector located?

Why would you need to get to J6 (a junction connector)? Your original post says you unplugged some switches - this would have nothing to do with J6!

Perhaps it is time you supplied some pictures of just what you are doing.

It looks like I had the correct plug so I believe there could be something wrong with the plug. My thought was I would need to replace the harness to the J6 junction connector and not just the plug.

If I were a betting man.
I'd bet there A LOT more wires in that harness than just the 4WD switch.

I'd cut and splice in a new connector.

Or better yet, depin the current connector and repin the plug.

Yup, J6 is a 22 pin junction with lots of wires, again if it does not involve the circuit being discussed Toyota does not show it in the "system" schematic.

My bet is the OP is fighting a non-existent problem. A better description or pictures would help. I'm out until that time.

Ok. Sounds like a winner. Thank you for the help. I will do a quick eBay search for the connector.

Oh, there is one more "easy" thing. The truck will have unused connectors in the harness at various places within the truck. It is possible the OP has picked up one of those and tried to plug it into the 4x4 switch. An easy and often made mistake.

    Good catch.
My truck has an extra plug for VSC next to the Diff Lock switch.
My truck doesn't have VSC, but it has the plug....

    Good thought.

That is possible. It was dark with just the dome light on when I looked at it again. I will check again in the morning before it gets hot.

it was an extra plug that was pulled to the other side.

Weather in Arkansas is great. An odd summer, a lot of rain and just now hitting the low 90s. Usually we are upper 90s by now.

Congrats OP for the new display installation! Got it done! I was shaking my head reading this post and thinking he should've left it as is before the mod. Good outcome!
