    Hello!

My 2018 Tacoma had the check engine light come on a couple weeks ago, I took it to my local dealer hoping I just needed a new gas cap, but the code came back as P11EE. left it there overnight, they did the diagnostic and told me the the cylinder blew a gasket and cracked the head, going to be $7,200 to fix. Truck has 61,000 miles on it so just outside the powertrain warrantee and Toyota isn't really willing to do anything for me. Anyone else have any issues like this? any feedback is much appreciated!

    Thank you!

Is it the dealer that isn't willing to do anything? That I would expect but maybe reach out to Corporate Toyota and see if they will goodwill it. That is 1,000 miles out of powertrain warranty. Worth a shot. Good luck, OP.

    Appreciate the feedback!

I did hear back from the dealer since posting and they are going to send it up the ladder to Toyota and see about covering, as they said on the phone, "some" of the cost. If nothing happens there I will definitely reach out to Corporate.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I would become a polite and respectful royal PITA to Toyota Corporate. Regularly relentless.

I'm bad at this, please do teach how to turn this around.
It's out of warranty, and no extended warranty purchased
    Not a known recall.
What exactly can one leverage in this case to get Toyota Corporate to even entertaining a conversation of paying? They could politely and respectfully ask me to pound sand because they have no legal responsibility to fix this.

I'm still working on getting the printed copy of what it needs. Everything so far has been over the phone. they did say they were going to have to take the engine out of the truck, due to where the cylinders are located. I'm imagining the labor is going to be a pretty penny.

If the CEL came on at 61k….could you make the argument that the head gasket blew before the warranty expired and it took a number of cycles to activate the CEL?

I mean the gasket just doesn’t open up and immediately bring in a code. It probably started a few thousand miles ago and finally got bad enough to bring in a code. You brought it in as soon as you noticed the CEL

It's 1,000 miles out of warrantee. I know it is out of warrantee but I had it in for the 60k mile service a week before this happened. No issues reported to me. just feels a bit shady.

I don't have extended warrantee, this is the 4th Tacoma Ive had and they were all pretty bullet proof before this one. Didn't really feel the need for an extended warrantee at the time.

I'm working on that right now with Toyota. Oddly it runs completely normal, just occasionally idles a bit rough.

Sorry to hear your engine grenaded at 60k. Here is whats left of the engine in my last truck (silverado).68k miles. What an ordeal this was.

Sounds shady to me if it “runs normal with an occasional rough idle” on 5 cylinders and a cracked head. That would certainly NOT run normal
