My understanding from the dealer was you must order a 2018 grill to be compatible (even though 16/17 years will fit)...

I just did this swap last weekend. So far tested it a little bit on Sunday and Monday. The brake warning and cruise control both seem to work perfectly. I notice no change in the performance of any of the systems.

I used the OEM Toyota 18 Pro grille, garnish, wire harness, and the star washers.

It is on lockdown. Had some help to get it figured out. Still took a few months to get.

I got a knockoff for my 18. It’s been on for a month with no issues.

I ordered my OEM pro grille from puretoyota.com in Texas it the had the cut out for the garnish placement. When I ordered my pro grille from puretoyota.com in early April last month it cost me 250.00 plus shipping. There is no problem ordering the garnish nor the wiring harness (you don't need the harness) from another online Toyota parts dealer. Now puretoyota.com is charging over 400.00 for the OEM pro grille. I had a local Toyota dealership install my grille. It works perfectly. I used the original OEM wiring harness and worked fine. If you want the longer wiring I can sell the extra wiring harness (still in the box).

I sold an extra aftermarket pro grille to another member here at Tacoma world. The grille looks great on his Tacoma.

If you dont want to reuse the OR grille, just drill the plastic tabs off and save the washers. I ordered the grille and garnish, less than 30 minutes to install. All OEM.

Why would you do that over $1.50 in washers? You would waste far more time value in drilling out the tabs than the cost of just buying new washers.

Because I don't care? I don't plan on putting the old one back on anyway. My time spent getting washers is worth more than $1.50, and I had the drill already.

Gonna turn the old grille into a shadow box project thing, hang it in the shop. Sucks the chrome trim ring doesn't screw into the center section. C'est la vie.
