    Hello All
New to the forum and see there is a lot of discussions on fuses and what to use in different cases. I have installed a set of LED Driving Lights and currently have the switch hot lead directly connected to the battery. I would really like to connect the switch hot lead to a fuse or something that is "Ignition On" powered only so I do not inadvertently leave them on and drain the battery.

I thought I could find an ignition on only fuse under the hood but it seems like everything in that fuse panel is always hot. Is that correct?

I find quite a few fuses in the cab under the dash that are ignition on only fuses but they are in the small fuse holder which the cover does not allow for adding a fuse tap. I kind of hate to leave the cover off to put in the fuse tap.

Anyone have options for someone with limited wiring experience? THANKS!

I would recommend using the wiper fuse under the dash. There are no switched fuses in the engine bay other than the EFI fuses but those power on periodically as the truck does EFI system checks while it's off. MESO Customs makes an extended cover or you can just run without it like I am.

^^This is a good option and yeah stay away from tapping fuses that run engine management systems as you would be inviting trouble.

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into wiper fuse option and the other cover. Thanks again!

Recommend you add a relay. The current fuses are already sized for their current load.

I'm just here to piggy back this a bit - I found this thread via Google, and have dealt with this recently.

I was installing a switch panel and used the engine bay, there was the EFI fuse and another one - that are ignition powered.

Anyway, for context, I have a bunch of aftermarket shenanigans running - remote start, MESO stage 1 tails, HID headlights, LED turn signals, license plate light delete in reverse. (I think that was it...).

When tapping EITHER of those circuits, and in some combination of using the switch panel and my lights (I never figured out the magic potion to get this to happen), when you hit the brakes, the LEFT rear signal and mirror stay on (not blinking) with the brake light o_O

When you pull the fuses, and reset everything, it goes back to normal. Then you drive, use the switch panel, do some stuff, and it comes back. What EXACTLY triggers it to happen, I couldn't tell you. I have so much aftermarket BS it could be in combination with the switch panel, etc.

I pulled the add a circuit, no switch panel at the moment. Just going to run the wire into the cab instead.

OH - and on one circuit the LEFT signal (only the left) at times gets hyper flash, when the parking lights are on.

Long of the short - there's some sort of wiring gremlin when you combine all the shenanigans I have and those circuits. So, I am going to, and highly recommend, just using the cab fuse box to work off of.
