2018 Tacoma OEM Remote start(Push Button)

I dont get it either except salesman said "if you open the door to get in, the way you start the truck is put your foot on the brake and push the button. well that would shut off any car starter, stepping on the brake." So whatever I guess

I have a Viper remote start on my 01 TRD. It only shuts off if you put your foot on the brake with out putting the key in and truning it to the on position.
I love it, I let it warm up while i get my lunch ready in the mornings.

 

but thats just it, we have no key to turn to on position and the only way to start a PTS is put foot on brake. (for the most part)

Yea it’s weird some vehicles I do that are PTS have a timed take over procedure such as get in press and release brake within 45 seconds.

It’s mildly annoying having the truck shut off, but I have had a R/S in my truck since April and have just gotten used to it. But the second I hear from DEI or Idatalink about a secure take over for Toyota’s you bet I will be updating my firmware for that haha.

 

Finally got my remote installed and I am loving it

 

whats the range? also, an extra keyfob?? hmmm

 

range says 1500ft.and two key fobs. And yes it shuts off when you open the door and it has a 3yr 36k warranty.

 

oh ok. how much hole did it put on your pockets? i recently just got the 12 volt remote start together with their cellphone module..

 

Didn't cost me a penny,When I bought the truck I had them throw it in or I wouldn't buy it,it just took awhile because the remotes are different from the 17's to 18's had to wait till they updated them or whatever they do.

 

oh hats right, i remember.. well, good thing it turned out alright. im loving my 12 volt remote start too.. this morning i turned my car on inside my house using my phone, when i got to my car, it was already warm =)

 

Hahahaha I just found out I don't need the fobs that came with my remote so now i just use the factory remote fob to start my truck.The only thing is my range dropped off a whole ton,but it will still start my truck from 110 ft away verses the 1500 ft range with the aftermarket fobs. Awesome being back to only the factory fob again.

 

I can start my truck from anywhere in the world with the 12volt solution smart start module for my phone

 

Disappointed that there isn’t an OEM option after reading the title to this thread.

Yea I Assumed that’s what I was getting when Toyota was installing it for me until the one guy asked if I was sure it was a Oem remote,so then I called them back the next day and asked and they told me it was a after market one

 

How did you figure out you can use the Toyota fob to start your truck instead of the Prestige fob?

 

Almost every time I would lock my truck after I got out of it I would turn around and start walking away and it would start back up on it’s own ,so I remember hearing guys talking about you had to hit the lock button on the factory remote 3times to start and stop their trucks so low and behold I tried it with my truck and it worked .Than I called the dealership and talked to the service manager about it and he didn’t know anything about it and was going to talk to the guys who installs them and they told him that the Prestige remotes Have the option to use both the factory or prestige remote or I could bring it back and they could set it to use only the aftermarket remotes.
