Yes, but you have to press 15 buttons (exaggerated, maybe) every time you start the vehicle; in order to do so.

It's annoying and Toyota discourages the PCS from being used with a lifted truck. I have yet to have a request to disable PCS (permanently) on a car but I imagine we will have to find solutions soon.

Unfortunately the tech isn't mod friendly. There is a way to calibrate it but I doubt many dealers will attempt to calibrate it to an aftermarket spec. I would reject that request immediately if I got it.

Then pay and have it calibrated if you can find someone to do it.

Our sale manager and dealer principle both have Tundras lifted 3" with larger tires and the TSS works as intended. If you did want to calibrate it you could adjust the targets height to the amount the truck is lifted and no I wouldn't do it either if it was requested.

Why not going the other way...lower it 4-5" so the sensors will see under the front cars...

ToyotaCorporate just sent all of the dealerships and email today stating that we cannot lift or install different size tires on vehicles prior to sale because the TSS system will not work properly. I specifically chose to go with the 2017 over the 2018 to avoid the headache of TSS on my taco.

I'm pretty sure a few inches wont change any of the functionality of the TSS in any significant way. I have heard others already lifting other trucks with similar safety systems without issue. Toyota is just telling the dealers to do this as a way to cover their legal ass just in case.

Once my 2018 DCSB OR arrives I plan to lift the fcuk outta it. I can always make minor adjustments to any sensor if need be, but I doubt I will need to. I ain't scurred, heh. Just sayin'.

I say get the 2018 and enjoy lifting it. It'll work just fine.

There is a liability to lifting a truck and Toyota isn't going to open themself up to a law suit. The dealer will still lift if you want but it would be after the sale of the truck. Once the truck is yours you can do anything you want with it. Our dealership has two Tundras with 3 inch lifts and they have had no issues with the TSS. It works exactly the same before the lift and I dought that there would be any issue with the Tacoma. Lifting trucks is a huge business and a letter from Toyota isn't going to stop the dealership from lifting trucks.

So these guys that have lifted "without issue" have gone out and tried to use the automated braking to make sure that it works? Doubtful.

The two lifted Tundras have been on the road for two months and are driven daily by the sales manager and dealer principle. No issues.

What's funny about this conversation is that all these safety features will be standard on pretty much EVERY new vehicle on the road in a few years and nobody will think twice about any of it. Modding will continue as it always has, and the cycle repeats.

Doesn't sound like you answered the question. I highly doubt anyone is testing the emergency braking except for Toyota when they initially calibrated the settings. And if it isn't tested on a lifted truck, you don't know if there's "no issues" unless you test it.

2" of camera height difference could be feet of difference at the range that automatic braking works.

As more vehicles get it, I'd imagine that more mechanics get the tools and skills to calibrate it. People only really modify a small subset of vehicles so right now there really isn't much of a market for those skills or tools.

Yep, right now it is new so some people are worried about these issues, understandably. But if there are any issues - which I doubt unless it's like a 12 inch lift or something - people will figure out how to tweak or calibrate it pretty quickly. I predict it will be a non-issue for the majority. We'll see, I guess.

I'll let you know once I get my truck and slap a 6 inch lift on it with 35's. I don't mind being the guinea pig with my mall crawler build. Improvise, adapt, and overcome is how I see it.

I wouldn't test the system on a uplifted truck. I dought that the system is that sensitive. If you were to put a load in the back of the truck there would be a sensor misalignment. I'm sure Toyota took into account of someone loading the truck and made sure the system worked properly. Think of the millimeter radar as a cone shape in the vertical and a very tight cone in the horizontal.

with enough weight in the bed of my 18tundra to lift the front of my truck up, the TSS functions properly. Lift your truck, turn the sensitivity down on the TSS like I have and you will be just fine.

If you are near Austin @Texoma can install a much better lift for a much better price than any dealer
