Background... I have had 2 clutch kits installed by the local Toyota dealership and both have failed and have been replaced through warranty..I have 110k miles on the truck. The initial clutch failed at 90k miles with roughly 65k of those being highway miles, as I commuted some distance for work a couple years ago...that being said, there wasn't really any heavy use on the clutch during the time I've owned it and I bought it brand new...

I keep getting this noise going 60+ mph in 5th and/or 6th gear…when noise occurs it will dissipate when I press the clutch pedal and continue afterwards…

I just had the clutch pedal kit/modifications done as well, through the dealership…

Clutch noise sounds like a throwout bearing. Next time you have the clutch, replaced get the pilot, bearing in the crankshaft replaced as well. It could be the culprit, but doubtful

I have gone through two TOBs. One at about 85k and the next at about 96k. I replaced them myself and no other parts. It sucks that it happened and I am hoping with every shift that this one goes the distance. Only have a bit over 100k now.

I don't have much confidence as this time I feel ignition pulses when shifting. Can't explain that. Fun times!

I’m not well versed in this stuff but I’m not afraid to ask for the rest of the class.

How do you know it’s a sound from the clutch at 60+ mph?

Shot in the dark: it’s diff howl. When you depress the clutch you begin to slow down and the resonance stops.

What did the “bad” clutches/bearings look like when they were removed?

Sounds like you’re an experienced driver so certainly you keep your foot off the clutch (and hand off the gear lever) unless actively shifting, correct?
