Loving my 18 cement double cab long bed auto... I think it’s much more snappy and more responsive with shifting than my 2015 double cab sport... I love the adaptive cruise and the auto headlights

The adaptive cruise is the cat's ass. Takes all the fatigue out of highway driving. All you need to do is steer.

Anyone get a check charging system light when they turn on their truck?

2018 off road manual 388 miles.

Whoa, I didn't know that. Does that have something to do with tow package?

Yep. It just means "you better fire up the alternator, son. I'm using a lot of juice"

If it stays on AFTER you start your truck then different issue.

I'm loving my 2018 TRD Off Road (Inferno!). My only complaint is the inability to get homelink and automatic headlights at this trim level. I bought the mirror on Amazon but guess I'll re-learn to turn the headlights on myself. Mine came with the Predator side steps, which seem to be a curious addition to an off road truck. I took them off immediately. In 47 more posts, I'll be able to list them in the classifieds!

Lol. Ok. Does it need to be brought in to have dealer look at it?

Seems like if you just turn on the battery that will always appear. Start truck and it goes away. I think it is a dumb way to remind you that if you just run the battery without engine it will eventually die.

It's actually pretty stupid, given that in the owners manual it says to bring the truck in immediately if that warning appears.
They should either fix the owners manual or fix the warning.

weird, I've never seen that...not when pushing the ignition without stepping on the the brakes nor when actually starting the car (pushing down on brakes).

It probably only happens on manual transmission trucks. The computer is measuring the voltage across the battery, which will be around 13.8 V if it is being charged by the generator/alternator. When the key is in the "run" position, it assumes the engine is running and should be charging the battery. So it complains when the voltage is lower than expected.

It is nothing to worry about unless you get that message while you are underway, in which case you should look for a safe place to park right away. Then you can try to figure out why the generator is not charging the battery anymore. When you get that indication, you have about 5 minutes of engine run time, not much more.

it comes on if you are running in the on position but the engine is not running. Both my 16 auto and 17 MT did it. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I had no idea this was a thing. I just grab E brake, clutch out... and release. Many hills where I'm at, could have benefitted from hill assist.

I think it’d be nice for when pulling a trailer or in some off road situations but I’d want a button to disable it.
