Lol, no filter here! I am a Toyota raised NorCal fan boy living in Michigan, which I believe is one of the most overweight states out there. If I were to design a seat for Americans in Michigan, have to widen that seat.

    Couple of points:
    1) Tacoma designed in America by Americans for Amuricans
    2) It isn't the corn fed beef that makes you a fat candy ass, but the sweets.

Not all the gens are designed here. Pretty sure after the NUMI Fremont plant closed, design of the Tacoma moved to Japan. And assembly moved to TayHaas.

Edit: correction, but still confusing, seems as though, the second gen was redesigned in japan by da Japanese

But, then, third gen resigned by a Michigander, didn’t see that coming...

Toyota NORTH AMERICA obviously has an R&D in North America.

Seems like global headquarters is in Japan.

Also, Basic Design facilities in NA vs Advanced design facilities in Tokyo. So, what’s the difference between the two?

Yeah i've got some figuring out. Have to deal with the proximity sensor on he drivers seat (Which I think can just be moved over to a fixed position) and the weight sensor in the passenger seat.

It's not Toyota vs Ford. It's Tacoma. Tacoma seats are probably in the top 3 worst seats on the market today out of any vehicle. Period.

Rest of Toyota/Lexus lineup have good seats/cabin space that you can adjust no matter what type of diet you prefer.

And the majority said “adequate”. Well, they are adequate. It’s a seat that you can sit on while driving. A 5 gallon bucket to sit on would be “inadequate” would it not? I voted in this pole. I chose adequate because well, it’s adequate but find it could be oh so much better.

Seat height adjustment would be a good added feature.
It seems that the driver's seat has a degree of "Goldilocks effect". I am one of the fortunate ones: my 2017 fits me just right.

I have owned it 13 months and have about 21,000 miles on it. It is my daily driver. Also, at least weekly, I am in it for a 4 hour round trip on the interstate (with a 3 hour break in the middle). Also, I have driven it on 4 multistate trips, each of which was in excess of 7 hours driving each way. I find the seating position to be very comfortable. A few months ago, I installed Clazzio seat covers which added even more comfort to the seat.

I don't mean to minimize the predicament of those who find the seat uncomfortable, which is compounded by its limited adjustment capabilities. Just saying that the seat works great for some.

I was super concerned about seating position when I bought the truck but it has been the most comfortable long-distance vehicle I've owned. That included everything from a 2015 GTI, 2012 Legacy, 1992 3000GT VR4, 1993 Probe GT, etc. I used to have to turn on heated seats and everything I could think of to keep the muscles loose. In the past I've always had back pain after 3+ hours and was just miserable. This truck has changed that.

Last week I spent 18hrs in the seat in a 36hr period and didn't have one complaint about back or butt pain. I was so happy to be able to be in the truck for so long and not have issues. I didn't even need heated seats or anything.

For reference, I'm 6'2" 165lb. Tall and trim with normal proportions. I didn't even fiddle with the seat too much, mostly the steering column telescoping. I still wish it came a bit further out but it works well overall.

When putting spacers and such under those seats, I'd make sure I wasn't doing anything to compromise the integrity of them in the event of an accident.

Most engine/chassis development for Tundra and Tacoma are done in Japan by both Toyota Motor Corp (Toyota City) and Hino Motors(Tokyo). Styling, interior/upper body are done in Michigan and California.

All tacos despite the year, have a shitty seating position. Been said here many times. I'm 5'8 180lbs and find the front is so claustrophobic that it's a shuffle in the seat constantly. Just not a natural position. The spacers help but then put you into the headliner. How tf anyone taller/bigger fits is beyond me. My cousin is 6'1 like 260 and cannot even sit in the driver's seat. But fits in a gti no problem. Not much you can do since the floor is high

Yet I can drive my Tacoma 11 hours comfortably. Interesting. Tell me more about these "worst seats period" theories.
