I remember this one time I tried to pull my boat out of the might Mississippi up a semi-steep ramp in 4hi. I smoked the clutch and killed the engine. Lesson learned. Always 4lo.

Is glazing something that can correct itself? Because i got almost no slippage on my way home after work today once it warmed up abit i tried in 4th gear and 3rd and flooring it and got no slippage and seem to get less general slippage now. But cold i do still get the slipping. New clutch has been ordered today tho. Didn't ask the price lol dealer only availability. Last i saw was 1300 cad for the oem clutch

I’ve heard of clutch glazing but I’ve not experienced it or researched it.

I did a google search and apparently it will/can fix itself with regular driving. So this may be the answer. Since this morning i drove and didn't have any slippage.

Update: so still havnt got the truck checked over but after researching i found that a glazed clutch can repair itself with driving, the glazed area will eventually wear down to the clean surface again. Not sure how long, but i havnt had any slippage since yesterday morning and it was small. Cold this morning and tested it from a low rpm 2nd gear flooring it and no slippage and accelerated fine. Tried again in 3rd and 4th with mid rpm and still no slippage. Toyota so good they fix themselves? Lol the shop ordered a clutch.. wondering if its worth the money to just change it or should i buy the clutch and hang on to it and wait for install if something goes bad?

Alright friends, thank you everyone for the input but my truck has fixed itself lol after driving a customer who actually rides his clutch.. i do not ride my clutch lol the smell . So as an update my truck is fine, i learned a lesson to not tow in snow in 4hi with a manual, probably glazed the clutch but wore back to good material . So glad it wasnt worn out. On a side note, anyone do car audio here??

Update*** so i finally got my truck over to a shop, the issue went away for months, then returned recently as the weather got cooler. Clutch requires replacement, hasnt been opened up yet but was diagnosed from test drive from a highly rated and reccomended transmission shop. Ordered and received a centerforce assembly. Getting installed in the next 2 weeks and will update again. Whats a reasonable price for them to do the accumulator delete? Or easier to do it myself? Anyone have the centerforce clutch,

https://www.centerforce.com/i-30500...in-dia-21-spline-fits-toyota-tacoma-3-5l.html I have this one now, waiting to be installed.

Update*** clutch is installed. Old one was toast. So far seems to be alright, clutch pedal returns abit faster than before, taking abit to get used to it today. Picked it up an hour ago.

Sucks to have to spend that kind of money replacing the clutch so soon! Do you mind sharing with us what the total cost was and if you did the accumulator delete? Did you find a transmission shop to do the work or Toyota?

I paid 2k to get the work done at a well rated and experienced transmission shop. Id rather have people who work on transmissions everyday. The clutch was 1700 shipped to my place. I didnt do the accumulator delete, i totally forgot to ask them.
