ultimately if you had $1500 to spend on wheels and wanted a meaner stance without lifting what recommendations would make?

I'm running American Racing 923 wheels. You can get a set for a little over $500. They have 4 1/2'' bs allowing you to run 265/75/16s with no rubbing.20170507_084840 (2).jpg

I think their similar to the SCS wheels but cheaper.

I was showing you a wheel option that will allow you to run a little bigger tire. Mine are 285/75. But I ran 265/75 before the lift.

Poke...stance...whatever; for lack of a better term.
Wheel spacers could get you what you want with stock wheels. I wouldn't go larger than 1.25" though. Bora and Spidertrax are the only two brands worth considering.

The problem with a lot of poke without lift is, you move the outside of the rim/tire further from SAI(the axis your tire turns on). It creates a greater arc that runs into clearance problems. Going with a larger tire also increases this arc.

A 16x8 +0mm, 4.5" backspace will get you 1" of tire poke with stock tires and should be doable without clearance problems.
It will give you 1.5" of tire poke with 265s, and 2" of tire poke with 285s should you decide to go larger. At that point, you will need to consider lifting and/or cutting for clearance. A 16x8 +0mm will also have the backspace necessary to accommodate lifted suspension geometry and larger tires.

Lots of wheels available in 16x8 +0mm...shop around, see what flips your skirt.

Pulled the trigger on 17" TRD Pro's and some Falken Wildpeak's. No lift and loving the look, thanks to those I bugged... Bring on some adventures!
