Have any of you had any transmission issues with your 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport? I’ve taken mine to the dealership 3 times to get it checked out only to come out of there with no solution.

    Issues:
    • Gear hunting
    • Truck jerking
    • Loud clicking noise and tugging when I put my truck from park to drive
    • When I merge onto the freeway and I step on the gas, my truck pulls back and suddenly pulls and takes off meanwhile my RPMs go crazy and engine sounds like it has a lot of stress

3 times to the dealership and no solution ?
did the dealer say anything to you or did they tell you its working normal ?
might be time for a 2nd opinion at a different dealership

Gear Hunting, No, but I live in mostly flat land area and I use S mode mostly.
    Truck Jerking, NO
Clicking/tugging, Are you on a slight incline/decline and not using the Parking brake?
Merge, the truck likes the higher RPM range, when I merge I will bump to S4 with ECT on and hammer down.

It doesn't make sense that if it was that bad that the dealer wouldn't notice something .

That mostly describes the 1k break in period on my '17, damn near got me t-boned at an intersection with its craziness. Made me want to get my 2nd gen back but I ended up going with OVTune and have been pretty happy with the way the transmission handles itself now. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-toyota-tacoma-ovtune-1-05-tune-development-thread.495735/

Max torque is @4600 RPM and max horsepower is @6000 RPM. It knows what it’s doing. Let it.

Well funny thing is that before I go to the dealership I have all those problems. When I get there and have the technicians do a test drive, it doesn’t do it anymore. It doesn’t do it all the time but it sure does do it pretty often and it’s concerning.

My '18 TRD Sport A/T preforms great. Seems the more the miles add up the better it shifts.
