I never got wind of Tacoma getting LED headlamps. The LEDs NAL bought to make the *single* highest rated lamp on US soil (Prius V) was not cheap. It is slowly trickling over to other models but it is costly. Toyota will be milking the Tacoma teat for all the margin they can on this model.

It would jist piss me off anyways right now lol. I just spent big bucks having a stock set of headlights retrofitted.

IIHS gave Toyota poor marks for their "dim headlights" I'm thinking we may get a change given Toyotas response to the article. Any improvement over the current headlights would be a huge welcome. I don't think any sort of auto highbeam option is going to count. Either way we'll find out soon.

Your also comparing $60,000 luxury sedans to a $30,000 midsize truck

I believe that was the thread I saw that at so if your saying that it was just a hoax, it fooled me too.

Not necessarily a hoax, just poor reading comprehension/general misinformation that occurs on the internet. Convinced me enough to dig into it.

it all trickles down to the lesser models, the same can be said though with Lexus and it's tech trickling down to the Toyota side

The 2018 Tundra facelift may have you guys second guessing considering it will have LED headlights.
If they don't do it for the Tacoma in 2018, I bet they will when they do a facelift in another year or two.

umm 38 gallon gas tank!?!?!? holy jeebus that's a lot of fuel. The only thing that turns me off from that model is the gas consumption...granted you're getting a lot more power and torque but it's not worth the trade off IMO.

When is the Tundra supposed to get a complete change? This seems like a mid-cycle "facelift" that most car makers do

the point of my post, (and this thread) was in reference to LED headlights.

yes, the tundra got a mid-cycle facelift in 2018. i imagine when they do the tacoma, it will get LED headlights as well (2019-2021?)

That's probably a fair guess, seeing that Toyota updated the Gen 2 after 10 years?

My wife's 2016 Rav4 has led headlights and auto hi beam. It was 33k. I fully expected the 40k Tacoma to come with them. I really hope they introduce it soon. It's worth it to me to wait to buy a new truck. After driving her car, my truck feels like the headlights aren't even on. Street signs pop from a block away.

Why would you wait for that, when there are retrofits that would blow the Rav 4's headlights out of the water? Stock LED headlighrs arent a whole lot better than our projectors with a drop in HID kit, much less a legit HID projector retrofit.

I read quite a few threads about people replacing stock headlights with aftermarket LED's and causing unwanted electrical problems. Maybe that's all sorted out now?

You mean drop in LED kits? I'd never use one of thpse. You can get rx350 projectors which are OEM and OEM hid bulbs retrofitted into your stock headlights. You could even use denso slim ballasts and you'd basically have an all original Toyota HID system in your truck. That setup would light up the road better than the LEDs in the Rav 4.
