A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
If Toyota handles these systems like Subaru does -- you will be able to turn any of them off if you so choose. My opinion here is that once you start to use them you will really like them. Our Outback has saved my wife from a collision once as someone pulled out in front of her -- the car hit the brakes right before she did. Can't be sure as I was not in the car, but she said it probably saved a collision. The adaptive CC is great on highway drives, although I will admit I have let ours drive me across town at speeds below 30 mph -- the car will track the one in front of you with a distance you set, and come to a full gradual stop at stop signs. You must touch resume or lightly tap the accelerator to get going again after a full stop. I have used it in almost-Stop and go rush hour traffic in ST Louis. The wife especially likes the adaptive CC, Blind spot monitoring and the rear cross traffic warning.
If Toyota would have had more than just the blind spot warning -- I would have bought the whole package for my 17 Tacoma!
To those that have not experienced these safety features for yourself -- Don't knock em till you have tried them!
I am sure there will be many similarities with the Subaru system as Toyota OWNS 16% of Subaru!

radar cruise mildly entertains me, but not enough to wait or switch my buying plans. Everything else including the stuff on the current gen... eh. Big deal for me was having cup holders so I didnt have to shift, turn, and drink my starbucks at the same time while being blinded by the sun.

I like my blind spot monitoring and back up sensors but I'm not a fan of anything that can take control and drive for me.

I wish a car company would build something with LESS creature features. I don't need blue tooth in my car or a satellite receiver or hell even power windows and door locks. Less is more.

Screw safety features if they dont have a real off setting. Ever realize how "smart" tcs and vsc are? Im not dumb but its a challenge at times outsmarting those systems for any period of time

Wait i wonder, will advanced cruise control work in crawl modes? Can it detect woodline as a lane? Oh boy we really wont even need to offroad, just select the correct settings and let your truck wheel itsself

I look forward to it. Folks are texting and driving more than ever. I'm guilty sometimes of checking a message while driving. It's good that there is technology that can provide backup when we slip up :)

I'm also not a perfect driver. Mistakes do happen.

Here's the issue I take with lane control and braking assist features. Do they save people's lives? Probably, but I'm not here to dispute that, as that's not my argument. What these features also do is take some of the risk out of distracted driving. What do people typically do when they know that something they're doing has less risk? Under many circumstances, they do it more often because they know the risk of consequences are less.

My point is this: If people know that their vehicle is likely to pick up their slack when they're thinking through their ass, they're not likely to stop texting, doing their makeup, eating a Chipotle burrito, reading the newspaper, etc. and that's the root of the problem. Thus, by implementing these features, it's unconsciously assisting the continuation of unacceptable actons while behind the wheel.

I use my blind spot monitor on the way to work and love it. It gives me a margin for moving over. I had it on while I was off roading and the back up monitor picked up a bush. It saved me some tiger stripes.

I don't want to sell my 2017 blue bomber. hopefully the new tech plugs in.

I'm looking forward to fingering this one out. :fingerscrossed:

My Taco has more Computing power than Knight Rider. I love the JBL Stereo and the tech. I would love to see the Safety Sense features. It is like idiot repellent on Phoenix Freeways. I also would love to see a CB built into the JBL control head. I had a friend with a “78 Vette with AM/FM/CB radio w/ 8 track tape so it can be done.

Some other Tech that I would like to see:

    C-Cup Tracking Radar

Latina Attraction System (wait…Tacoma’s are already pussy magnets)

    Micro-Brew Navigation System

    Factory REI VIP Parking Pass

    Pavement Avoidance System

Drone Launch Pad (I’m actually working on this one)

    Teflon Coating to prevent Plasti-Dip

And last, a nav system that self-drives to Mos EisleyCantina…I like scum AND villainy
