    Hi -

New to forum. Potentially going to purchase '18 TRD ORDC Short Bed w/ premium/tech packages. Hoping to get a few questions answered from owners.

    > Can I fit 2-3 road bikes in the bed without taking any wheels off and without front tire hanging out?

    > As a 5'10" driver, with a 5'5" wife, will there be any issues with multiple child seats, including rear facing infant seat? Good family vehicle and every day driver?

    > Is the bed space adequate for fitting 6' - 10' timber and or sheet goods without any modifications or add ons?

    > With tailgate down, will wife and I be able to sleep comfortably in the bed without hanging off the edge?

    > Do people complain when sitting in back seat due to space?

    > Do any models come with built in garage opener and/or remote start?

    Thanks everyone.

    1) No, you will have to leave the tailgate down on a shortbed to not take off tires for most bikes.. mine is that case anyways.

    2) I am 5'10" and don't have the seat all the way back, but your mileage may vary, I recommend a test drive.

    3) If you need to go longer than 8 feet on lumber, get a long bed double cab.. the bed with the tailgate down is somewhere around 7'

    4) you can lay out completely with the tailgate down.. it can be a little cozy between the wheel wells

    5) People complain about sitting in the back seat of mine all the time. Adults sitting in the back will make you move the seat forward a little further than is comfortable. That being said, around town, it's not a big deal for me personally.

    6) Don't know about the 2018, the 2017, none of the OR came with homelink.. you can buy the mirror for 200-300 bucks though with home link in it from Amazon depending on what you want. Other trim levels, homelink is an option. Remote start, I have no idea, but the kits for the pushbutton start trucks are super cheap if you want to add it on later.. perhaps.. 200ish? There are plug and play kits you can install and program yourself.

Hope all this helps, but I recommend a test drive.. bring a child seat with you when you do it and strap it on in the back, dealers are used to that sort of thing.

    Good luck!

I have home link in my 2017 OR, so that must be one of those weird US/CAD trim things.

I’m also 5’10” and I wouldn’t want to be sitting in the rear seat behind me. But a kiddo, sure why not.

As far as bed length, yeah you could carry 10’ long lumber in the back but best have some weight on the cab side. As far as sheets of plywood, it won’t fit between the wheel wells, but will fit above them.

I have a long bed and at 5’10” I can lay down with the tailgate closed. For a SB, you would probably want to have the tailgate down to lay flat, especially with 2 people. Like ^ said, it’ll be snug between the wheel wells unless you build a sleeping platform above the wheel wells to use the full width of the bed.

I’ve never ridden in the back seat of my truck and I don’t think I’d want to. IMO, the Taco DC is more of a kid backseat than adults. If I had to transport 4 adults on a regular basis I would look into a 4Runner.
