I bought a $119 eBay grille without a garnish a couple months ago and moved my sensor down with no lasting issues. The first 500 miles every once in awhile it would go off, then restart up. Recently I tackled this hill and knocked out my alignment and my traction control light wouldn’t go off after the alignment. The dealership did a free zero reset calibration (it was called something like that) and they said it reset all the parameters of the motion sensors in the truck. They said it included the front sensor and it always works great on the highway. I wish we could default the distance setting to minimum automatically when you fire it up the radar. The 3 click distance is so far back everyone cuts in front. Then I honk :)

Dealership in Cochrane, AB Canada has them for $425 CDN, not sure it it's a 2018 sensing one though.

I just saw them last week at my local dealership (Toyota Chula Vista - 650 Main Street, Chula Vista, CA 91911). They had it displayed at the very front of the sales department. I specifically asked them if they were selling them to anyone (without a TRD PRO VIN number), and the guy just rolled his eyes and said "yeah, why wouldn't we?"... I was not expecting that. at. all.

TLDR; Toyota Chula Vista sells them without a TRD PRO VIN.

Same here. Didn’t ask for VIN. I did notice that the part number on the packing slip was for a non-garnished grill, however the garnish was installed and ready to go. It is pricey though...

So...2000 miles later, I'm happy to report that I have not received any further sensor warnings. Not once, and I have driven in virtually all weather conditions. Ice, rain, snow, and dirt: no warnings of any kind. I also verified extensively that all of my sensors still function properly. This includes the adaptive cruise control and collision warning (that was fun to test!). Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. Here's hoping many of you are, too.

#1.- Do you recall the thickness of the sheet? I am about to go the same route as you but saw that there are two options: 0.08in and 0.22in. The 0.08in is 8x10 in and about 3 dlls. Is that the one you used?

#2.- Maybe someone knows a lot more about plastics than I do and can help figure something out or clarify this:
    - Both the "Toyota Logo garnish" and the "TRD PRO OEM Garnish" have the letters 'AEPDS' printed in the back, which relates to them being made from acrylonitrile EPDM styrene (AES or AEPDS).
    - Is plexiglass comparable to AES? (I looked it up, couldn't find anything)
    - Does anyone know where to find AES plastic sheets? (my late night google search didn't bring up anything good).

Called them up, they sure will sell and ship to anywhere but pricey! for the '18 its 475$ plus 56$ for the TSS shroud and he said if you get the error code its a 2 hour job to recalibrate the TSS!!

    Damn!! that's a lot of $$!!

Humble Soul, I had the same issue when I first installed my eBay Chinese TRD Pro Grill. However, the alarms went away after my first three freeway test drives. 2000 miles later, I'm still error-free. I installed a piece of plexiglass on the inside of the grill to cover the TSS sensor. All said and done, the entire set-up cost me around $100.

OK maybe someone can chime in because I’m at work I just don’t have time to read 46 pages. LOL, I have an 18 Offroad double cab although the 18 TRD pro grill is nearly $200 less locally (207.00) is there a reason everybody seems to want the 2016 and 2017 grill? Secondly if I do the 2016 grill, which I can get for 399 locally. Can I do the 2018 garnish? Or is that a different part number? And if I understand correctly they garnish is what is used to hold the TSS sensor? Any help would be greatly appreciated for a newbie

So I may have finally solved my TSS problem. like many other folks here, I bought the Chinese nock-off grill and used the license plate mod instead of the garnish. I have been trying to figure out a work around for my sensor constantly saying it needs to be cleaned ever since. Well a few days ago I got to looking at the empty space difference in front of the TSS between the old and new grill and decided to try putting a few washers in front of the TSS sensor. I put 2 washers on the left and right side and only 1 washer on the top. Went for a ride and it turned off after 15min on the road. After that, I have drove 6 times (30min each way) and the sensor has not turned back off and the cruise control is working as intended. I need to drive for a longer period of time to really test it out but so far so good. I hope that this did in fact fix the issue because I really don't like the shinny garnish look personally.

I have that same garnish from @customcargrills and got “clean sensor” errors after installing. I used construction adhesive to keep it in place. Drove for 15 miles this morning and was working fine then the sensors came on. I’m super pissed because I doubt the piece can come out.

Buy a OEM garnish and be done with it... I have 5k miles on my grill/oem garnish setup and have never got an error.

Just ordered the 18 grill. For 207.00. AND was informed from another member here that I did NOT need to order the garnish as the 18 already comes with it. Hope that’s true. Than I’m all said and done for 207.00 assuming they actually get me the grill.
