A warning to anyone getting the cheapest of the cheap off ebay. I just installed mine. I paid 89 buck with free shipping. Today they are selling for $73 from the same seller. The 4 screws they sent to attach "TOYOTA" were too small. The hole for the TSS sensor screw on the top was too big. The OEM garnish does not fit well. It is "in the slot" but it seems to be held in place mostly by the poor fit. If I had a do-over I would go with an OEM grill and shell out the extra money. Oh well, you live you learn. If it falls off I'll just put the shiny grill back on. No warning lights, but I'll get back to you guys if I have any issues. Good luck finding a top quality counterfeit, I know a lot of people here and on reddit are completely satisfied (or so they say).

My ebay $89 grill had the same issues. I needed four larger screws for the lettering and a larger bolt for the sensor. I'm not using the OEM garnish so not having fitment issues. Besides the four screws and bolt I have no complaints so far. But time will tell, I read a post complaining about possible fading.

I second this. Mine took about a 100 miles and then it works just like before. Haven’t had a clean sensor error since. Give it time is true.

Just tried ordering the 2018 grill with a vin number off of carfax, no dice. They cancelled my order within two hours. :/ Seems like Toyota is really cracking down on this?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more orders canceled moving forward. The 2016-2017 Pro grille is still widely available, however it comes at a much higher price tag ($300-$400).

You still need a Vin number. They have several on hand. The parts department submits the order, it's up to the toyota warehouse to approve it. See if a dealership can search for one in stock at any local dealership.

If it's in stock. I didn't need a Vin for mine because I found it locally. However try getting your dealership to order one from the Toyota warehouse and that's a different story, ask me how I know.

I was waiting on the longer harness from Toyota, come to find out my orginori one worked fine. I later found out that it was a waste of Mo ey, sent it back .

Does anyone or this thread have a picture of the longer harness routed in the grille? I too am wondering if it’s a waste and why needed.

I didn’t find it a waste ... it’s only $20 and fits the new grill perfectly ... all of the clips are exactly where they need to be and the harness routes so that it’s not visible from outside the grille.

Do you happen to have or know where a picture is if the routing? I’m going to be installing it all soon. Thanks

Also, 2 more things I was hoping for help on. On some YT videos people say you don’t have to remove the 2 bottom rivets to remove the grille assembly? Is this true?

And the star nut washer thingies that hold the garnish in... do you install those with the teeth facing up or down?

The longer wire harness clips behind the grille, runs horizontal behind the center piece and around to the top of the grille, making it is less visible when looking through the grille. Refer to the photo below.

    7B0BBCE8-9CC8-432F-888C-E23C4F6D52FA.jpg

On the other hand, the standard length wire harness runs vertical from the sensor to the top of the grille, leaving it visible when looking through the grille. If you take a look through non-Pro grilles, especially the ‘18-‘19 Off Road and Sport models, you’ll see plenty of visible components.
