My truck is a little over three weeks old. I went ahead and had the dealer apply CalTex protectant on the outside before I took delivery.

Two days ago, a bird left a little gift on my black hood decal. The poop was on it for no more than a half an hour max. After I washed it off, I noticed it left a mark in the decal as well as swirl marks and tiny scratches where I very carefully washed away the poop. Is this normal? Is the hood decal really that fragile? I took the truck to the dealer and they said it's not a warranty issue. I'm just worried that after I replace the decal, it will happen again. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The Black Vinyl on my Door Pillars got scratched by a tree branch, I used Wax on it and the scratches are much less noticeable

I've seen bird poop eat the paint off a vehicle. I've seen bird poop craze the paint on a vehicle.
It truly depends on what the bird ate and was in the poop. Birds eat bugs. Birds eat cherries. Birds eat a wide variety of stuff and some of that stuff can damage paint or decals. If you think about it, some birds eat tiny gravels to aid digestion and when those tiny gravels get dropped from a few hundred feet up, chances are good that it can scratch whatever it hits.
Sorry about your decal but unfortunately, shit happens and it's not a warranty thing.

On my old 15 Tacoma the paint got etched in 2 places on the roof from bird shit, I think they ate something seriously acidic that day!

Go to local graphic or sign store and they can match the pro factory one with better material

When I wax my truck I run my orbital polisher with wax over my vinyl it removes blemishes and gives it a uniform finish

Mine has taken a beating from my lack of cleaning and general crap falling from the trees at home, bird poo included. Try 303 vinyl protectant, it usually cleans up nicely after that.
