2018 TRD PRO rust above windshield

My truck was parked outside in the sun today and I saw the RUST for the first time

 

Looks like it caught a rock at some point and chipped the paint.

 

Hard to tell in the resolution of that pic but it looks like there was a pinhole chip/blemish that was the start of that mess.. needs to be fixed post haste.

It’s covered under warranty make an appointment with the dealer and excise your rights under that contract it will probably need approval from a Toyota regional rep.

 

A word of warning on this for all (and the OP)

These anti perforation warranties are from inside out rust (panel deterioration). If there is a clearly evident chip from a rock or other road debris, and the rust is caused from that it is "technically" not covered.

Most dealers will repair these minor blemishes to keep customers happy, so approach it respectfully and you should be good. I have seen some pretty gnarly rust get covered because the writer signs off on it.

Treat the service writer professionally, with respect and a smile and you MAY get it covered under warranty. It helps to have a hot looking girlfriend/wife/friend with you

 

Yes there are plenty of weasel clauses in the warranty contract. I had rust on my bed spot welds between the cab and bed $1800 warranty repair was it from rock chips I don’t know prove it anyway they fixed no questions asked it’s been over a year now and it’s perfect.
The warranty is a performance contract between the owner of the vehicle and Toyota...the dealer is not a party to that contract as they are only the authorized agent to perform such work on Toyota’s behalf. So the claim needs review by a Toyota regional rep and a appointment can be made thru the dealership since they are the first point of contact (agent) with Toyota.

 

Does your truck have its original windshield?

If you get a crappy installer who doesn't know what they're doing, you can easily scratch/nick the paint in the channel and it can bubble up and out. While it doesn't look like that's the case here, it's something to keep in mind.

 

Hot wife/girlfriend can definitely help get things done.

 

Or get laughed at from your hot wife/girlfriend when the dealer tells you "No!"
