Pretty sure it states in the manual that there is some sort of fuel system pressure test and it will make a noise after truck is shut off.

This is true, but that sounds more like an electronic motor sound, not like OP's leaky balloon sound.

I honestly have to thank all of you for taking the time to read any of this and contribute your thoughts, knowledge and time to my truck and problem. I am totally aware that I could have done a little more due diligence and been smarter about all of this, and to be honest, you guys have really been both helpful and kind to me when I really needed a bit of help. I’m taking your advice, and it’s going to a shop tomorrow. I’m going to tinker a bit and see what I can get done before it’s dark here, but more than likely I think I’m going to turn your advice over to my mechanic (also long time friend) and hope that it’s money well spent on your suggestions! So far I think I’m at: (reset the computer already and no love unfortunately) replace MAF, drop the gas tank and smoke the Evap system, also make sure that when the lpfp was replaced on recall that they didn’t fuck it up, check knock sensors and also hpfp and brake vacuum boost pump for knocks that might set off the knock sensors, make sure the fuel pressure is ok, sounds like it might in fact not be an issue now actually, check all the wiring and fuses, relays, fpotential vacuum leak especially concerning MAP sensor, so also check map sensor, catalytic converters, and while I’m at it, maybe have the crank and cam sensors replaced or at least tested! If I’m being crazy here let me know, but all of these ideas from you guys make a lot of sense, and unless I hear otherwise, I’m going to move forward on these and hopefully report back with a fixed truck in a few days!!! Thank you all again!!

Do you pass your Evap leak test by any chance?

Seriously though, anyone near Vancouver, once this truck is fixed, I’m buying all the rounds at some nearby brewery if any of you would care to join me, I’m beyond touched at how many thoughtful replies you’ve given me, and would love to give back once I can breathe again!

    We don't have MAP sensor.
Take one item at the time. Troubleshoot Evap issue 1st, then diag the rest.

I've never been around to hear this, but have heard about it. I'm sure I'd freak out if i did hear it, haha, but luckily I'm only currently focused on every other imaginable problem!!

No kidding? That's good to know and also interesting, what do the tacomas use instead? Or is it anything?

And that sounds like a more reasonable approach than my initial instinct to just do everything I can think of.

    MAF.
This may help to get familiar with the engine.
Find service manual on TW and download.
Try to get techstream app or similar.

Hey, just from my own research I was wondering if you thought it would be worth checking out the VVT valves or timing chain/tensioner for these problems as well? And if so where would you put those on the hit list in regards to probability?

No, that's the weirdest part of it all. I even drove with my gas cap off for a couple days to try and trigger a CEL but nothing happened. When I unplugged my MAF a code was instantly triggered though.

Sorry, so i guess yes, I have two permanent codes that I purposely triggered just to make sure the truck was capable of throwing a code, but I assume that's not what you meant?

Now codes = no issues, except Evap monitor is not ready. How long ago did you reset ecu? Evap monitor is ready after a few driving cycles.

I have it on my OBD2 scan tool, I can't remember exactly where, I'll look in a little bit here. Weirdly it's not a code or CEL, it's just in some other area of the menu, i'll let you know when I do
