OP, find another dealership, call cooperate and make them deal with it. You go and dig into it or let someone work on it and then the dealership finds out because someone replaced or jacked it around, then your screwed. Your best to deal with Toyota and have them deal with it, your going to waste your money and time.

That's what happened to Elaine in Seinfeld when she got sick and went to her doctor! He wrote a note in her patient profile about her bad attitude... She saw it and he wrote another note so she changed doctors but the new doctor had her attitude history and treated her even worse!
She ended up going to a highly recommended independent "out of the loop" doctor and got her issue resolved.
I think that's what I'd do in your case. Seems most areas have a "Car Care Nut" who is much better than most dealership mechanics

It’s at my mechanics right now, I’m hoping to stop in after work here and see how things are going, it’s been a couple days now. I think he’s been pretty busy though, but I’ll definitely post an update tonight!

I will, it’s just been so soul sucking that I’ve needed a break from bashing my head against the proverbial dealership wall for a minute, but I’m not done, just taking a breather while my mechanic does a bit of investigating and hopefully can prove to the dealer cm ship that if it’s warranty work then they need to do it

Hey, I've had a busy week and cousin's wedding last night, so haven't had time to update really. Just running out the door, but I thought I'd leave a little something for anyone curious! My mechanic said that everything looked normal on his scan tool, and he didn't see anything really wrong with any sensors, or anything like that. He didn't start ripping it apart, I think trying to save me money. He did pull the dipstick and found metal shavings on it, not even from the oil pan. That combined with the horrible noises from around cylinders 3 and 5, plus the timing problems, is making him think we need to find a way to get toyota to get back on board and honour their warranty somehow. They already don't want to deal with him anymore either, as he has tried to talk to them again on my behalf as well. His scan tool shows normal pre and post cat temps, as a side note, while my shitty obd2 tool shows pre usually around 5 or 6 hundred C and post around 300. I also found old insurance papers and the name of the previous owner. I contacted him on facebook and he was really nice, and seemed totally forthcoming with anything I asked about. He said the mileage sounded totally correct, and he apologized for the pinstriping and a couple small dents, haha, but said that it was dealer maintained at the correct intervals and he hadn't had any problems. I'm tending to think that's the truth. Basically I'm going to wait and think about how to proceed now. Sounds like the engine might grenade itself soon, but I'm going to try and do whatever I have to to get it sorted out first. My mechanic didn't want to change the oil yet (6000 km synthetic) since that's proof that there's a problem, but is shavings in the oil without a code going to be enough to get Toyota to listen? Maybe I can sell the truck to a friend for a dollar so he could bring it in as a fresh and likely better received customer?

Maybe send some oil in for analysis. That will tell you what, if anything, is going wrong.

That’s not the craziest idea, do you mean to Toyota? Or is there an independent place to send something like that?

If you contact them I believe they can put a rush on your sample for a few dollars more.

Drop that truck off at a dealership, hand them the keys, tell them what's going on with it and leave. So what's the problem they have with you? Sounds like you pissed them off somehow.

Meh. Go to another dealership, trade the truck in for a base Prius or something, and play dumb. Tell them it runs great. You can always get another truck
