I have now driven my 2018 TRD Sport for 32,000 miles. I first brought it back to the dealer with 1,000 miles on the odometer with a complaint of dragging rear brakes. That was addressed under warranty by sanding the brake pads and drums to eliminate the interference. That solved the symptom, but not the problem. The problem transitioned to vibrations when applying the brakes. Especially noticeable at higher speeds.

Last Friday I brought the truck in again and they determined that there were issues with the rear axles and that this unfortunately was a common issue on the Tacomas. They had to order parts, so they put it back together and I took it home as it was not considered a safety issue.

I brought it back again Friday evening and by Monday night the work was complete. I was promised completion on Saturday and Sunday, but it took a full 3 days to get the work done.

Only a short drive home tonight, but noticeably smoother so far.

Don't know if this is accurate, but the tech indicated that Toyota would be extending the warranty for this issue to 60,000 miles.

The repair cost Toyota $2,800. Probably would have charged me more if this was post warranty.

You got charged $2800? Either way bumper to bumper is 36K miles and powertrain is 60k

No cost to me. The repair order for the warranty work was $2,800.

Braking vibrations are eliminated after the axle replacement.
