I've really started enjoying it even without the tune, will get it one day when warranty is done, I know it's technically not detectable, I've read a thousand or so of those OV pages, can't wait to do it one day..

I bought an 84 base model pickup new, it had either the 22R or 22RE, I don’t remember. And I had an 88 4x4 for a long time, it had a 22RE. They were great at the time, but the 2.7 I had was better and I’ve had 3.0, 3.4, and 4.0 V6s and they were all better than the one before.

Oh, well, you're due for the 3.5, that lil baby will scream, push the ECT button. I've yet to drive a manual but we needed a vehicle my wife could move or drive if she needs..

I recommend getting it asap. It will change your world. And you can always flash back to stock if you are worried about warranty work. It makes the truck what it should have been from the start. I only made it 200 miles before tuning. Never going back!

31 pound Striped Bass, from Lake Ouachita. They are excellent eating, but this one went on the wall.

Is your Taco a TRD Off Road? I’m wondering how the OV tune works in crawl mode, or using cruise control?

OR. Standard CC works great. There are some issues with adaptive CC but Mat is working all that out.

We're in a testing period now for beta tunes to provide feedback for the final release. Mat is very responsive to input and has damn near optimized this drivetrain.

I don’t recall these being forged anything, unless youre talking about the 2.7. Got the literature to back this up?

    Wikipedia does state forged rods.

If two vehicles at the same basic weight are burning the same basic amount of energy, what does that tell you? Power wise?

If you mash the pedal on the v6 to get that 289 hp, you’re not getting that mpg.

This. The idea behind buying a Toyota pickup is longevity, not beast mode power.

I say 2.7, as long as you pull below 3500 lbs, it's pulls fine, just a little slow. It always does what you ask in a predictable fashion. I've also heard of a lot of people getting better than rated mpg. It's low end torque response seems to be better from what I've heard from others who have had both. Dual vvt apparently helped the 2.7 in the 3rd gen a lot when they added it.

I had a 4 cyl 4x4 , now with a 6 , both being a manual probably doesn't compare to what you are after. The 4 was ok, yes it gets the job done and a good engine, but definitely not looking back. Hot day, AC on going up hill on the highway no thanx with the 4. drivabilty and transmission refinement are superior with the 6. Not to mention MPGs are about a 1- 1.5 difference, sometimes negligible and at times the same.

I say get the six. The six only has adequate power... Can't imagine the four.
