Is the “Tacoma dash rattle” still a thing on newer 3rd Gen Tacoma’s from 2019 up?

I’ve got the classic dash/windshield rattle when it’s cold happening on my ‘19 and have looked at all the Tacoma World threads on fixes. Seems like most of those threads are older and from 2016 - 2018 (and older).

I was wondering if there’s been any other “fix” worth trying other than what I’ve done which is place a 12” length piece of vacuum tubing between the dash and windshield. It reduced the rattle by about 90% which is livable.

Just curious if this was still common on “newer” Tacoma’s.

I haven't experienced any rattle so far on my 2020, but I only have 8,000 miles on it.

That’s a great thing. Once my cab warms up or the day gets hotter my rig is solid as a rock. It’s just cold mornings where the rattle kicks in. So bizarre.

Well, as it really doesn’t get too cold here in Central Texas that could be part of the reason I haven’t had any issues.

Warm weather sounds good about now here in Montana.
Anything below about 60 degrees in the morning and I get that dash rattle when I hit certain bumps before the cab warms up.

Had it my 17. Rattle drove me crazy when I drove the kids to school in the cold mornings. This morning it happened again in my 2020. At least I only drive them twice a week due to hybrid schedule. Thanks Covid. But seriously, I open the glove compartment and rattle stopped. Anyone else try that?

So frustrating. The only thing I can think of is the weight open glovebox pulls the dash away from the windshield just enough to stop the rattle??? Just a guess.
Putting the tubing between my dash and windshield absolutely helped with the noise and since it’s black and tucked down in there you can’t see it.

My '19 rattles from the passenger side tweeter cover when it's cold.

I guess I shouldn't be too weird about it...it is a truck after all and coming from an '07 Jeep JK this Tacoma is very very solid. If you even looked at my JK funny it would squeak :)

I think if you don't have the electronic wipers package, there is an unused sensor location on the passenger dash that has a small plastic plug in it that might rattle. Also, there's some good reading here on rattles and how to fix them.
