    Hi Folks,

Not so long ago I started hearing this scraping/grinding noise from the front right as far as I can tell. Pardon my poor English, I can't describe it correctly. The closest I found is this:

(not my car, I just found this video that sounds somewhat similar)

I can only hear it occasionally if I brake harder just before stopping. It's sharp, clanging, metallic and the wind down is pretty apparent as I come to a halt. I couldn't yet correlate to cold or warm or anything else. I asked my buddy to ride with me the other day to have him hear and I couldn't reproduce it in an hour on our way to the airport.

My 6 mo check is due anyway but I wanted to ask if any of you encountered something similar. The only thing I can think of is that since I'm not driving it too much (3k miles so far) the dirt/rust buildup is faster on the disk than normal.

    Ideas?
    Thanks!

If it's humid or raining and your truck sits for a bit the rotors could flash rust and sound odd the first couple times you hit the pedal.

Most service writers pretty much ignore what people tell them is wrong (as in giving them the solution) with the vehicle.

What is useful, particularly with a good service writer, is either an accurate description of the symptom or the ability to replicate it for them.

    Use it.

It's what new car buyers most often claim the value of buying a new vehicle over 'someone else's problem' is. Warranty.

It would be helpful to share what's found when you do.

It was some time ago but I haven't logged in.
So quick update. I took it to the shop for the first inspection and they were all nice. They played with it for like 3 hours when the sales guy comes back and says that they hear the problem but can't figure it out. They are giving it another shot now but most probably I have to bring it back on Monday for their master tech to look at it. (it was on a Sunday) But after 15 min they came back happy, they found it. One cover element above the driveshaft came loose. When breaking the car tilts forwards, driveshaft slightly raises at it was enough to rub against the loose cover.
I concluded it as a minor quality problem. Mo problem ever since.
