I more or less agree with his sentiment regarding Vettel and Hamilton also. Vettel is very good at controlling and dominating a race from the front, but he's not so good at fighting for the lead when he doesn't get the jump at the start. Look at some of the drama when Webber happened to grab the lead when they were in the dominant Red Bull together, more often than not there seemed to be flying carbon fiber when that was the case. Hamilton is cool under pressure when finding himself outside the lead and making up spaces, but seems to have a few races every season where he loses some form. Schumacher was just dirty when his first place was threatened, otherwise he was supremely focused, could control a race from the front, or make a masterful drive through the field if necessary.

 

yes. and to take that a step further, it seems Vettel is amazing from the back, and he's earned that reputation. but once he's made it through the midfield up to P4 or P3, that's it, no more to draw on.

 

I put that down to the differences between a backmarker or mid-field car and his dominant car. In even machinery he has a hard time passing and loses his mental game.

Good point. Just like Ricciardo outshined Vettel when he joined the Red Bull team.

I've been re-examining this, and i think i see where you come from. the discharge of Kimi after he's done the good work of car development, getting done with the Arrivabene veil of secrecy, the Binotto move, this all could show Ferraris total confidence in the car & team for next year. so Binotto just needs to hold it together and it's up to the drivers. and that's gonna be a good watch.

 

I was all in on Danny Ric for the last 2 seasons, but I'm not sure how this one will be. Max and Charles Leclerc are top of my radar, now.

Lots of rumours floating around that Liberty Media is looking to unload F1 or reduce it's stake in the series .

Maybe it will be the Return of the Bern.

Also race promoters are balking at Liberty's negotiating tactics and have made noises that they will walk on F1 , circuits on expiring contracts this year include Silverstone , Monza , Mexico and Hockenheim
