ARCA used to have two dirt races, IIRC, but I think DuQouin is the only one now, and they call it Springfield or Illinois Fairgrounds Raceway.

Does the truck series still have the dirt race on their schedule?

I hope I can get more into it, but it's not the same to me since the likes of Junior, Stewart, Gordon, Waltrip and Martin retired from driving. It seems we lost a lot of top talent in a few short years. Maybe its because I'm older and can remember all the characters and personalities that came before them even.

So true. I honesty think Nascar is getting back on the right track, since that dumbass Brian France is no longer in charge. I've read/heard alot of good things. The main thing they are going back to, is trying to satisfy the older die hard fans, instead of worrying sooo much about the younger fans, I know they need younger fans, but don't shit on the ones that have been there for a long time. Time will tell.

Racing has always been a rich man's sport in some form or another. Sure, it started as a blue-collar deal, but factory money swept in and changed things forever. I think for many of us who have watched for more than a decade, we've seen the upheaval of the Old Guard and the shift to drivers buying seats. We saw the last of the pure racers (Earnhardt, Stewart, Martin, etc.).
Today's drivers might not be the best drivers (I think you'll find the best in winged cars at dirt tracks), but today's drivers do have parents that bred them to drive and used their means to open up big opportunities for their kids. This is something that, for the most part, did not happen before the '90s. It's gotten more large scale in the past decade. NASCAR has shifted to the F1 lifestyle for a lot of these guys. They are millionaires ten times over and exist in a different realm than the rest of us. I've seen an interview with the Petty kids and they talk about sitting in the car during the race with their mom and waiting to go home and eat supper afterward. My cousin used to go to sleepovers at their house and run around the yard while Richard was wrenching on his car. It's just not like that anymore. We've lost a lot of legacy names, too. Second and third-generation drivers have retired. Their kids are either not interested in racing, or are too young to drive. We've been in this big shift for several years and I hope the spinning stops soon.

Yeah... that's what my dad said when Petty, Allison, Pearson, and Yarborough all retired... those young guns like Martin, Gordon, and Wallace filled the gap.

This generation is no different. You got your Harvick, Truex, Busch and Elliott bringing in the next generation .

Except for that crazy Busch, there's just not all that much intense personality in this new generation that we saw in the old. It's almost too quiet, too polite, too boring now.

There are better Toyota drivers... Truex and Hamlin for starters.

Truex actually won his title by racing a FULL season like a real racer......

Hamlin is about washed up. I believe he won't be racing for JGR next year. Christopher Bell is going to take that ride.

In a REAL format KB would have won last year but 3 wins amd some ok finishes is better than 8 wins and season dominance nowadays.... Guess the participation awards people should be flying into NASCAR in droves
