Please show the true motive? I go to 4 race weekends a year for NASCAR and I go to at least 1 CRA series race and usually 2-3 cars tour races and 1 Woo late model races a year... What is the shitty motive for the schedule change? I am glad they moved Atlanta from the blizzard

Like any good Hillbilly, France Jr and Brian France had chips on their shoulders. Given the TV contracts and ever-growing sponsorship contracts that began in the '70s, grew exponentially in the 80s, and ballooned in the '90s, NASCAR wanted to be taken seriously among their new peers (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc). They lost their way long before the casual fan realized what was going on. In a quest driven by greed and ego, they threw the lifelong fans out the window for bandwagoneers. They thought they'd sealed up the loyalty of the old guard by keeping Petty's number on track* and Earnhardt was still around back then. There was no sign of trouble. New tracks were being built and they couldn't put enough seats in places like Bristol.

For you, you're one of the younger fans (under 30, I assume). You don't have kids, and can afford to go to multiple events without a big hit to your budget. It's different for me and other longtime (20+ years) fans like me. I have to consider my kid's appetites, attention spans, and how much foul language and immature behavior I'm willing for them to witness on top of travel costs, and accommodations. Add too that ALL of this weighs in with the experience, even before I consider the on-track product.

I know a lot of folks who started watching in the 90s who gave up following NASCAR when Brian France took over and started changing all the rules.

*Petty self-retired the #43 after '92, opting to run the #44 in '93 with Rick Wilson. NASCAR did not like NOT having a #43 on track and kindly "insisted" that he run the number in '94 and onward. Personally, I thought the #44 looked pretty cool with the '92 livery.

I get some of that, but yeah Talladega has the WORST fans but its cheap... But seriously what alternatives are there? Its like a monopoly. (I watch it all so not a monopoly on me, but most American racing fans)

As far as the price, some tracks are worse than others... So I get the high price excuse (thank god for Talladega free camping)

You said what I wanted to say a hell of a lot better than I could have...

My basic point is now they are so caught up in bottom line ratings, revenue, and fanfare and have forgotten what made them popular in the first place... Raw organic stock car racing. Now they're just trying to manufacture excitement by moving the schedule around.

I personally miss the finale being in Atlanta. It was a fun race but back when they did it as such usually the champion was already crowned at that time, except for 1992... I still go back and watch that race.

My point has been stopped trying to mess around and go back to what you had. Let this sport grow organically like it did in the late 80s and early 90s

Can't grow when the generation of sissies nowadays can't even pop a hood so they'll care less about racing... Its sad

I commend them for making changes. It's just gonna take awhile to fix what that dumbass Brian France done.

Zero time to plan anything. Working three jobs. Wife & kids. Life is bonkers. I have to plan things out 6 mos in advance for a chance they'll happen. As much as I like to, I can't "wing it" with anything these days.
