Not to mention, got to see Matt Kenseth put Fagano in the wall. The whole place went nuts. There was a Fagano fan sitting right in front of us, we were sitting in turn 2, he just put his head down and looked like he was gonna cry. Lol

I thought I'd lose a little bit of my fandom when he left but I haven't. Chase is awesome and I'm all in on that 9 car. I was a little upset when he turned over the 24 and for the first time in my life my guy had a new number, but I like the legacy of it and how he's making it his own. Hopefully I'll see him win in person one day and it'll make up a little bit for missing Gordon. Saw him run P2 to Kyle at Richmond... she was happy lol

    Dale Sr...

    Then everyone else.

I grew up just minutes away from Salem Motor Speedway. List of former track champions include Kenny Schrader, Daryl Waltrip, Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, etc.... USAC sprinters ran there. I watched the likes of Tony Stewart, Rich Voegler, Jeff Gordon, Kenny Irwin, Ryan Newman, etc.... They're ALL damn good. Just some better than others.

Liked stock car racing when they were still spin offs from "stock cars". Not the current "Tupperware" cars

Yeah me and my boys are all Chase fans. I was fine with Chase running the 24, not a big fan of the kid driving it now. Hendrick should put the 24 up and give that kid the 5. We are planning on going to 1 of the Martinsville races and the Southern 500, love how they do the throw back now.

Me too. But it's gonna happen. Hopefully it's just a year or 2, no longer. That's the one thing I don't like about Nascar now, it's about the money not the talent. Same thing it was with Danica.

At least you all don't go and have to see keselowski Logano or stenhouse win most of the races you attend. I don't think I've been to cup race a Toyota has won and it pisses me off.

It's been tough becoming a #9 fan for me. After all the years of supporting the #88 I just can't get used to winning and running in the top 5!

We all understand how tough it must have been being a Jr fan. It will be ok soon.

I know what you mean....kinda. Dale retiring basically gave me the chance to have a life again. I've wasted too many Sundays watching races that he never performed at. I like Chase, but we only watched like 6 races last year. We'll probably watch some speed weeks coverage and I don't know after that. I'll see how the competition looks before I commit to another year. My daughter used to come home every weekend and watch with us, she's a KyBu and Chase fan too but she's young and sports have changed in her world a bit. Think she's into baseball this year too.

Oh well, good for Jr. I mean I respect the hell out of him as a man. He is a good person. I met him back when he started driving for AC Delco and even rode around with him in a golf cart at Rockingham for 30 min back before he was anyone. I just hate that his heart was not in it for so long. My wife got me his book for Christmas but I have not read it.

I don't know man, I think his doctors really scared the crap out of him with the concussion bits. I raced MotoX for years and definitely suffered from my share of concussions(1 documented), and if it weren't for just being old and not in touch with my equilibrium any more, I'm sure I could do it again.

Have more respect for him the last few years then when he started. He was good for the sport for a while, I think he will be better for the sport now that he is not driving.

That's cool. Ward Burton is one of my favorite people. The Hardees #31 shop was only a couple of miles from me back in the day and they only had 5 people working over at the AG Dillard shop. I used to go over to the shop all the time and hang out, help them unload whatever pieces of a car Ward brought back (LOL). I even watched Jeb a few times when he was a baby while Ward was in the shop. I could listen to him talk all day, you feel like you are in slow motion when you have a conversation with the man. Just a really good person.

I think he just got to the point where he had to much to lose. I mean the man has tons of cash. I feel like he didn't want to do it for the last 10 years he was in the car but he knew what he meant to the sport so he just kept going without really trying. Everyone thinks he is this spoiled rich kid but he honestly has overcome a lot and had a pretty tough life. I mean he has money and I think he is finally happy but even when he was young you could tell he had it rough.

Yeah, but he started at the bottom like your supposed to. I don't think Sr spoiled Jr by any stretch.

I don't know why but AJ Oftenwrecker reminds me of this character for some reason. Just never really trusted him.
